Claire Idle Obituary

Claire Idle
November 29, 1929 - January 4, 2021
Charlotte, North Carolina - Claire Frances Frye Idle, the daughter of Hilda Moreman Frye and Clyde E Frye, entered this world Nov 20, 1929 in Newark, Ohio. She left this earth January 4, 2021.
Claire had a beautiful voice. She studied at Denison University Conservatory Music in Granville, Ohio and Oberlin College. She sang professionally and also enjoyed singing in several auditioned groups in Ohio, Connecticut, and in the Charlotte Oratorios singers and enjoyed all types of music from Jazz to the classics.
Claire married her high school sweetheart and the love of her life Don Idle on May 28, 1950. They were blessed with two daughters, Kristine Gingrich and Leslie Church. During their marriage, Don was transferred from Ohio to Connecticut and they moved personally to Charlotte, NC in 1978. They joined Raintree Country Club and it was there where Claire enjoyed tennis with friends.
Claire and Don were members of St Stephens United Methodist church where Claire sang in the choir for several years and attended Sunday school class where she enjoyed their fellowship.
She was an avid reader, loved sports and traveling. The wonders of the change of seasons gave Claire a spiritual feeling. She enjoyed the outdoors and the beauty around her. She had a quick dry wit and enjoyed making people laugh.
She was a loving Grandmother to Ashley Stuart and Sarah Church and was so proud of them and the young women they became and was elated to be a great grandmother to Holden Thomas Stuart and Emerson Grace Stuart.
First and foremost, Claire's heart was filled with the love of her family. The deep and abiding love of her husband and the abounding pride for her girls.
Claire was preceded in death by her husband, Don, and their daughter, Kristy. She is survived by her daughter Leslie (Carl), granddaughters Ashley (Dave) and Sarah, and great-grandchildren Holden and Emerson.
A memorial service will be held when the Covid-19 pandemic is more under control.

We had some laughs and arguments together at the Raintree ARC meetings which is where we met and became friends. Loved getting together at her home for wine and appetizers. I always said she looked awesome for her age. Will miss her very much.
