Damon Huskey Obituary

Damon Howard Huskey
FOREST CITY -- Mr. Huskey, age 80, of 205 Sheriff Huskey Drive, died Monday, May 17, 2004 at his residence. He was a native of Rutherford County and a son of the late Richard and Hattie Mae Henson Huskey. He served in the United States Army during World War II in the South Pacific, was a member of Bethany Baptist Church and former Deacon, a member of Forest City Masonic Lodge No. 381 AF&AM, a Shriner and a supporter of the American Red Cross having donated over 5 gallons of blood in his lifetime. Mr. Huskey served as a Forest City Police Officer for 7 years and was Rutherford County Sheriff for 24 years. His terms of office were from 1958 until 1970 and again from 1974 until 1986.
Survivors include his wife, Marjorie Daniel Huskey of the home; three sons, Mike Huskey, Jerry Huskey, and Chris Huskey, all of Forest City; a daughter, Joy Walker of Forest City, two brothers, Robert Huskey of Arizona and Peter Hoffman of Virginia; and a sister, Ann Lancaster of Spindale. There are also 8 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday in the Bethany Baptist Church with Rev. Marvin Green and Rev. Jerry Ruppe officiating. Interment will follow in the Sunset Memorial Park. Visitation will be held from 5 until 8 p.m. Tuesday evening at The Padgett and King Mortuary, 227 East Main Street, Forest City, NC.
Memorials may be made to the Rutherford County Chapter of the American Red Cross, 838 Oakland Road, Spindale, NC 28160.
The Padgett and King Mortuary is in charge.

MR HUSKEY WAS A GREAT LAW MAN AND WILL BE MISSED VERY MUCH BY THE PEOPLE OF RUTHERFORD COUNTY.

Mr. Huskey was an outgoing person, always friendly, and he will be missed. In the last year or so, Don and I have kept in touch with him through Mike Huskey and friends. I am sorry for your loss.
