David Melton Obituary
'Dave'
KANNAPOLIS -- Mr. Melton, 53, of 431 East Universal Street, died July 10, 2006 at NorthEast Medical Center, Concord, NC. Funeral will be held at 5 p.m. on Wednesday at Whitley's Funeral Home Chapel, Rev. Brant Piper officiating. Entombment will be private on Thursday at Carolina Memorial Park Mausoleum, Kannapolis. The family will receive friends on Wednesday from 3 to 5 p.m. at the funeral home.
Born March 13, 1953 in Cabarrus County, NC, he was the son of Francis Clyde Melton and Jimmie Mae Henderson Melton of Kannapolis. He was a youth correction officer affiliated with the State of North Carolina Division of Youth Services at the Stonewall Jackson School, Concord, NC, for many years. He was a member of Second Presbyterian Church, Kannapolis, a graduate of Rowan-Cabarrus Community College with an Associate Degree in Business Administration, and an avid fan of the University of South Carolina Gamecocks for many years.
In addition to his parents, he is survived by his grandmother, Ona Henderson of Kannapolis; brother and sister, Aaron Dale Melton and Micah Frances Melton, both of Kannapolis; and special nieces and nephews, Hannah Gray, Allie Melton, Sam Gray, and Levi Gray.
Memorials are requested to Cannon Memorial YMCA, 101 YMCA Drive, Kannapolis, NC 28081.
Whitley's Funeral Home is assisting the Melton Family.

Dear Frank and Jimmie, I am as grief stricken about David's death as if it had been my own child. I have such wonderful memories of David growing up at Second Presbyterian Church. Frank and Jimmie, Paul and I are so very sorry for your lost. I can't imagine losing a child and the grief it would bring but I know it is a heavy load to carry and I am so sorry. Put your trust in God and the load will be lighter and in time the grief will be replaced with beautiful memories of a happier time with your child.
