Fred Sharpe Obituary

Fred Alec Sharpe
Mr. Sharpe, 87 of Charlotte, NC passed away Thursday, January 15, 2009 at Carolinas Medical Center.
He was born in Hickory, NC to the late Fred G. and Sally W. Sharpe. Although, he lived in Charlotte, many of his happiest days were spent in the mountains of North Carolina. Fred was a member of Providence United Methodist Church, and was active in Boone United Methodist Church. He served in the Army Air Corps during WWII. He retired from Brady Distributing Company in Charlotte. Mr. Sharpe was also a member of Derita Masonic Lodge.
Fred was predeceased by his parents; his brother; Raldo Sharpe and his sister-in-law, Betty Sharpe. He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Evelyn Reinhardt Sharpe; his son, Phil Sharpe and his wife, Beth of Charlotte, NC; his daughter, Donna Brantley and her husband, George of Weddington, NC; his grandsons, Nicholas Brantley of Concord, NC and Michael Brantley of Eatonton, GA. He is also survived by his nephew, Scott Sharpe of Cary, NC.
Funeral service will be held 2:00 PM, Monday, January 19, 2009 at Harry and Bryant, 500 Providence Road, where family will receive friends an hour prior. Interment will be at Sharon Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Children's Home, Inc., 1001 Reynolda Road, Winston-Salem, NC 27104 or the Masonic Home for Children at Oxford, Inc., 600 College Street, Oxford, NC 27565.
