Dr. Brown´s friendship and tutelage are sorely missed in these dark days for America and the church before Christ returns.

I was one of Dr. Brown's advisee students at Trinity Evangelical Divinity School in the early 1980's. Dr. Brown was a brilliant scholar with a pastor's heart. He was an example of the kind of man in Christ that I would like to be. I am grateful for having known him as a mentor and a friend and I was honored to be one of his students. The last time I saw him was in 2001 when he was lecturing at Trinity Law School.

Dr. Brown was my mentor in systematic theology at TEDS 40 years ago. He was also my academic advisor, friend, and confidant in those days long past.
I was wise enough to obtain his books and to retain his lecture notes from those now distant times, where they remain in my home library in San Antonio for reference at any time.
I look forward to seeing him again in the Kingdom of God.

Grace, as you know, we're in Alpharetta, GA taking care of little Holden while his parents are on vacation this week. We've just learned of Joe's death; you have our sympathy and love. We won't be back in time for the memorial service but will keep you in our prayers.

Dear Grace and Cindy and Michael:
The privilege of knowing Joe Brown has created joy and now great emotional pain. Loss of a dear friend is never easy, especially one who has been a mentor and inspiration to many, many students and readers of his books and articles. He will be missed.
May he rest in peace.
May his soul rest in peace. And your hearts be comforted.

Grace,
We will be praying for you and your family as you travel to Florida. I'm so blessed to have been one of those you invited to sit at your dinner table. It was a gift to get to know and talk to Joe. May God show you His peace and comfort in a special way this week.
Love,
Muffin
