Howard Rasmussen Obituary

Howard Rasmussen, MD
Dr. Rasmussen, 80, of 4910 Harris Woods Boulevard, Charlotte, died Saturday, April 23, 2005 at Preston House, Charlotte, NC. A memorial service will take place at a later date in Falmouth, MA.
Born March 1, 1925 in Harrisburg, PA, he was the son of the late Frederick Rasmussen and the late Faith Elliott. Dr. Rasmussen received his BA from Gettysburg College in 1948, his MD from Harvard University in 1952, his PhD from Rockefeller University in 1959, and his DSc from Gettysburg College in 1964. He was a professor at the School of Medicine at the University of PA from 1964 to 1975, a professor of Medicine and Cell Biology at the School of Medicine at Yale University in New Haven from 1976 to 1993, and a professor of Medicine, Surgery, Cell Biology, and Anatomy at the Medical College of Georgia in Augusta from 1993 to 2000.
He is survived by sons, Paul S. Rasmussen of Lawrenceville, GA, and Craig S. Rasmussen of Concord, NC; daughters, Jane E. Rasmussen of Concord, NC, and Gail E. Rasmussen of Jackson, MS; and four grandchildren.
Whitley's Funeral Home is assisting the Rasmussen Family.

Unfortunately for me, our paths never crossed but I have benefitted from Dr Rasmussen's published works . I am a professor of medicine at UNC, a '68 Gettysburg College graduate ( Phi Delta Theta).
