Howard Stephenson Obituary

Howard Willis Stephenson CHARLOTTE - Mr. Stephenson died early Tuesday morning, March 10, 2015, at Brighton Gardens Assisted Living Center. He was born on April 2, 1927, to the late Mary Burnham Willis and Howard Stephen Stephenson. He graduated from the University of Kentucky (and still loved UK basketball) and Yale Divinity School. He worked for Kentucky State government for many years and retired from there. He had been an Eagle Scout, a board member and chaplain for Metropolitan Music Ministries, leader of a project for St. John's Episcopal Church in the Double Oaks community of Charlotte, and a CPR instructor. Survivors include his wife Annette Braswell Stephenson, daughter Mary Stephenson Berkeley, son-in-law William Berkeley, and grandchildren Rebecca, Coby, Smith, and Addison Berkeley. The family of Mr. Stephenson would like to thank the staff of Brighton Gardens Assisted Living Center and Hospice of Union County for treating him with respect and compassion. A memorial service will be at 1 PM on Friday, March 13, 2015, at St. John's Episcopal Church, 1623 Carmel Road, Charlotte, NC 28226. The family will receive friends at the church following the service. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Alzheimer's Foundation, Western Carolina Chapter, 3800 Shamrock Dr., Charlotte, NC 28215 or Hospice of Union County, 700 W. Roosevelt Blvd., Monroe, NC 28110.
