I was so sorry to hear of Dr. McCallum's death. He was my pediatrician from the time i was born until age 18 or so, when he finally insisted I go to a doctor that handled "women's issues". Reluctantly, I agreed. Then I was delighted when I went off to college at ECU and walked in the infirmary one day and lo and behold, there he was. We laughed about it as I told him I wasn't ready to give him up being my doctor just yet. The personal care he and his nurse, Mrs. Bunch, provided to me over the years was so professional and caring....I never dreaded going to the doctor at all. Always loved getting the suckers also with the "garden tools" on one end. He was a special gentleman that was an asset to Williamston and Martin County for many years. I often thought of him and wondered where he was living; in fact, I saw someone that reminded me of him last week while walking on a bridge in Florida and he crossed my mind. Imagine my shock when I learned he had passed away just a few days earlier. Sending my deepest sympathy to his family. May the wonderful memories you have of your Daddy bring you comfort now and in the days ahead. He made a lasting impression on me all these years.

With my sympathy and prayers to all of the family. As a child growing up in Williamston (Farm Life), Dr. McCallum was my pediatrician. He was a kind, caring, and devoted doctor. I enjoyed going to the doctor because he was so nice. Not to mention Mrs. Bunch, his nurse, and the delicious pink suckers! Cherish your memories and know what a special person he was to many of us in Martin County!

He was my children's baby doctor. Sorry to hear abt his passing. Strange but true. I had not thought about him since he left until last night. Then I read tonight that he died.

I had not seen Dr. McCallum in probably 30 years but the memories of him are held close in my heart. My mom began taking me to him when he first came to Williamston and he quickly won her heart by the way he took care of me. My prayers go up for the family.

He was my pediatrician growing up. I loved him and his pipe. I remember that my younger sister LOOOVED him. She made up ailments so she could go to the office until everyone discovered what was happening. They started making little times for her to see him, and a miracle happened!!!! She got better!!!
Prayers for the family. He was kind to us here in Williamston.

I served on a church committee with Jim years ago. He was such a thoughtful person, both during serious discussions and ourside of the committee as he shared his love for researching family geneology with me, teaching more about my own family. The world is a less lovely place without him. Our thoughts are with you, Fane.
