Johnnie Harley Jordan, Sr.
MORVEN -- Mr. Jordan, 83, died Tuesday, April 22, 2008 at Carolinas Medical Center Union in Monroe. Funeral services will be 3:00 p.m. Friday, April 25, 2008 at Pleasant Hill United Methodist Church in McFarlan with Rev. Yvonne Hechler officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will greet friends tonight, Thursday, from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Leavitt Funeral Home in Wadesboro.
Johnnie was born in Anson County, NC April 27, 1924 a son of the late Harley Marion and Rebecca Jane Long Jordan. He retired from BV Hedrick with 33 years of service, was a veteran of the Merchant Marines and a member of Pleasant Hill United Methodist Church.
Surviving are his wife of 60 years, Valeria Wallace Jordan of the home; his children, Johnnie Jordan, Jr. and Sandra K. Jordan and B.J. White, all of Wadesboro, Colonel Donnie B. Jordan and wife, Betty of Monroe, Ronnie L. Jordan of Cheraw, SC and Lonnie W. Jordan and wife, Melissa of Marshville; grandchildren, Bonnie Young and husband, Brett of Charlotte, Contina Jordan of Rockingham, Johnnie Jordan, III and wife, Tina of Hamlet and Maggie and Jessie Jordan, both of Marshville; great-grandchildren, Johnnie Jordan, IV and Chloe Jordan, both of Hamlet and Christian Young of Charlotte and his sister, Bobbie Gathings of Wadesboro.
He was preceded in death by his sister and brothers, Margaret Brooks, J.B. Jordan and Marion Jordan.
