Heavenly father, we are gathered here today to honor the beautiful memeory of Minnie Austin. Lord, we want to thank you for all the experiences and joys that she brought into our lives. We loved her and still love her now. Though her physical body and voice we can no longer see and hear we know from the Lord we shall see her again. But this time her body won't be weak and her walk won't be crooked. But, she will have a glorified body for the Lord shall change us all in the twinkling of an eye. So, don't forget her smile and her laugh. For we shall see her and hear her once again never to be seperated from her.

Mom, I wanted to call you today and tell you about your funeral. I wanted to ask you where to plant a camellia bush I received. Someone else brought me a daphney bush that will be fragrant and blooming every December. I want to call you and tell you how proud I am of you. I want to call you and tell you about the huge stargazer lillies that were at the church service. I want to call you and tell you that you looked beautiful on Christmas Day. Mom, you were always there for me in every way, shape and form. You protected me from knowing how much pain you were in from your arthritis. People often told me, "I wish your mommy was my mommy." I was blessed to have you for 43 years. I will take care of Dad. I love you and will never forget your beauty, your caring, your elegance, you knowledge and the funny little sayings. Be in peace. Love, Allison

Dear Family,
If you thought of the friends and loved ones in your life like plants in a garden then Minnie Austin would be that perfect specimen plant that just completed the garden.
The plant would be one of your favorites-the one that always offered interest and beauty no matter what season it was. She would be the plant that stood out from the rest, yet, beautifully complemented all the plants around her. She would be the plant that everyone noticed and admired. A plant so rare it could not be bought but was even more special because a friend shared it with you from a cutting from her garden. Once it was planted in your garden, it enhanced it and made the world a prettier place.
The friend that shared Minnie with me is Allison. My family moved across the street from the Austin's when I was seven years old. I have many wonderful memories of Minnie. Her smile, her laugh, rides in her Cadillac, trips to the drive-in and the beach. Minnie taught me many things- especially things Southern- Southern hospitatlity, the love of southern cooking, how to plant a southern garden and manners of a true Southern Lady.
Minnie had the ability to see beauty and joy in everything around her. I was fortunate to know her and fortunate that she saw beauty in me and made me feel special. I will miss her dearly but her memories will keep me strong and smiling.
Just as she made this world a better place, Heaven's garden will be all the more lovlier for having her in it.

Allison,
I was so sorry to hear about the death of your mom. I know how close the two of you were, and I know there are no words to take away the pain you are feeling now. Only time can do that. Jean told me about your mom when it happened, and I just wanted to let you know that I am keeping you and your family in my prayers.
With much love,
Jerry

My deepest sympathy to you and your family. I was a neighbor at Greenhurst and Minnie introduced me to gardening. I will always think of her as I plant my gardens in the future. She was a very dear soul.
