Oma Crooke Obituary

Oma
Roberta Anderson Crooke
MONROE -- Mrs. Crooke was born December 21, 1913 in Norfolk, Virginia, the only child of William Thomas Anderson and Della S. Anderson. She went Home to be with the Lord on Saturday, October 10, 2009.
You can't sum up almost 96 years of life into a few paragraphs; however, Oma grew up in New York City and attended public school there, completing the 12th grade. She loved to talk of going to school with 'snow up to her knees' and of all the things she had witnessed in her life, such as the first Model-T car, the Great Depression, two World Wars, the Korean War, the landing on the moon, the invention of television and going from the 'silent movies' to today's modern films, only to mention a few. She and her parents moved to Monroe, NC where she met her husband-to-be, Charles. They were married 61 years. He predeceased her in 2001. They had been memebers of Albemarle Road Presbyterian Church for over 40 years.
She is survived by her daughter Ginger and son-in-law Wirt T. Neale, three grandchildren and their families, Julie and Chris Bennett, of Cornelius, Allison and Ryan Partridge and Wirt Jr. and Beverly Neale, both of Charlotte, and five great-grandchildren, Brian and Taylor Bennett, Grant Patridge, and Emily and Ella Neale.
A memorial service celebrating the Resurrection of our Lord Jesus Christ and the life of Oma Crooke will be held at Albemarle Road Presbyterian Church, 6740 Albemarle Road, on Tuesday, October 13th at 11am with the Rev. Dr. Ron Tippens officiating. The family will receive friends at 10am prior to the service.
In lieu of flowers, please send memorials to the Good Samaritan Fund at Albemarle Road Presbyterian Church, 6740 Albemarle Road, Charlotte, NC 28212.
