Ruby Nance Obituary

On Sunday, November 17, 2024, Ruby Johnson Nance departed this earthly realm after a century of grace, love, and wisdom. At the remarkable age of 100 years, 4 months, and 1 day, Ruby peacefully transitioned into eternal rest, leaving behind a legacy of faith, resilience, and incredible love for her family and friends.

Born on July 16, 1924, Ruby was a witness to a century of profound change, innovation, and history. Deeply rooted in faith and values, her life was centered around her family, the church and her spirituality.

A true matriarch, Ruby imparted her wisdom to five generations, teaching by example the importance of always looking your best with a well-matched set of jewelry, the exact amount of sugar for your sweet tea, the secret to crocheting the warmest blanket and how to make some of the best food anyone would ever eat! She would happily share her recipes and would always make "your" favorite if you were coming over or in town.

Ruby is preceded in death by her husband, Alfred Earl Nance. She leaves behind three wonderful children, Al Nance (Pam), Brenda Starnes (Dickie) and Carolyn Coulter. She also has six amazing grandchildren, nine great grandkids and six great-great grandkids who all affectionately called her Mamaw.

As Ruby embarks on her heavenly journey, we find solace in the scripture: "Well done, good and faithful servant" (Matthew 25:23). She has now entered the gates of glory, reunited with loved ones who preceded her and embraced by the infinite peace of her Creator.

Though her physical presence will be deeply missed, her spirit endures in the hearts of her family and all those she touched. We celebrate her life not as a farewell but as a testament to a century well-lived and a soul well-loved.

Rest in eternal peace, Mom/Mamaw. You have run the race, kept the faith, and left a legacy of light and love.

A private family service will be held at Sunset Memory Gardens, Mint Hill NC.

I'm so thankful and blessed for Ruby and my path to have crossed. What began as serving her as a Caregiver became a tender loving bond. Her faith and reliance on God and our dependence on prayer and waiting on God for the answer we grew in our relationship with Christ and eachother. Sweet Ruby is truly missed by many. Earth's loss, Heaven's gain.

Mamaw you were a beautiful, strong willed, god fearing, family loving woman. You taught me how to bake, host a gathering, pick and shell butterbeans, can corn, play in the ocean, crochet, find a good sale, always have jewelry on and most importantly how to love. I am the wife, mother and Nana because of the examples you taught me. I don´t exactly know how to say a final goodbye so instead I´ll just use your words, from the last voicemail you left me..."I love you honey and thank you so much okay bye bye"
