Tony Bing Obituary

Tony Travis Bing, Sr., age 57, of 6231 Cove Creek Drive, Charlotte, departed this life courageously and peacefully, surrounded by loved ones, on Monday, May 5, 2003. Born November 6, 1945 in Bamberg, SC to the late Miller and Elaise Bing, he was educated in Charlotte Mecklenburg Schools. He was a truck driver for Armour Foods and then Consolidated Freightways from where he retired in 2001. He had a strong zest for life and lived it to the fullest.
He enjoyed listening to music, talking on his cb radio, fishing, golfing, bowling, building and working with his hands. He had a strong work ethic and enjoyed spending time with his family and friends.
He is survived by his devoted wife, Doretha, of the home; beloved children, Fransonia Tanill Bing of the home, Tony Travis Bing, Jr. (Avis), and Sharon Denise Bing, of Charlotte; granddaughter, Jocelyn A. Bing; and grandson, Tony Travis Bing III. In addition, Tony is survived by his mother, Elaise Bing, sisters, Marilyn Deese (Jesse), Ernestine Wilson of NY, Curtis Bing (Cathy), Oscar Bing (Sharon) and Otis L. Bing, Rev. Albert Mickle (Frenthie); a host of sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, cousins, aunts, nieces, nephews; and a very special, devoted aunt, Susan Harris of Savannah, Georgia.
Too many special friends to mention (you know who you are). Special thanks to Dr. Butler and the nursing staff, the 5th floor nurses of University Hospital, Hospice at Charlotte, Pastor Frank Harell and his wife, and to all of you who kept The Bing's in prayers.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, May 8, 2003, with visitation beginning at 12:30 p.m., at Northeast Seventh Day Adventist Church, 827 Tom Hunter Road, Charlotte. Burial will follow in Sharon Memorial Gardens.
Alexander Funeral Home is entrusted with arrangements and serving the needs of the Bing Family.
