William Carroll, born in Charlotte, NC, on August 17, 1960, passed away peacefully on August 19, 2023. William was a gregarious and free-spirited man. Self-employed, he was known to many in Charlotte as he walked throughout the city. Although there was pain in William's life, he also experienced much joy and showed great interest in his friends and others. William lived a simple life and possessed a faith of hope.
William's best days were filled with hanging out at a Starbucks greeting strangers, shopping at Wal-Mart and greeting strangers, drinking a beer or two, watching a good western and asking questions, lots of questions. He was given to much wonder over the richness of life even though his material possessions were few. Even so, William was generous with what he had and was very focused on the needs of others. He will be greatly missed.
William was a member of Westminster Presbyterian Church in Charlotte. He first became associated with Westminster through Breakfast of Angels and Room in the Inn, where he developed many friendships and made many invitations for others to join him. William had a great impact on the Westminster community. He brought an awareness of those who are vulnerable in our city. He truly ministered to others with a smile, his wit and loyal friendship.
There will be a worship service and celebration of William's life on Thursday, September 28th at 11a.m. at Westminster Presbyterian Church, 101 Colville Rd., Charlotte, NC.
