David Dickey Obituary

David Dale Dickey, 96, journalist, freelance writer and conservationist, of Knoxville, Tenn., passed away Tuesday, Sept. 19, 2023, in Knoxville.
He was the son of the late Charles Hadley and Billie Hall Dickey. He was also preceded in death by a brother, Charley H. Dickey; a daughter, Fran Dickey Patton; and the mother of his three children, Missy Bradley Dickey.
Surviving are his daughter, Dale Dickey and husband Steve Hetu of Los Angeles, Calif.; a son, Charles ""Chuck"" Dickey of Knoxville, Tenn.; and close friend and caregiver, Nichole Chaumont.
Burial will take place at the ancestral Dickey family plot at Sunset Cemetery in Murphy.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made in memory of David Dale Dickey to the Great Smoky Mountains Conservation Association, P.O. Box 52025, Knoxville, TN 37950-2025 or Young-Williams Animal Center at www.young-williams.org/support/one-time.
Ivie Funeral Home, Murphy, is in charge of all arrangements.
