To McGann Family, a great Irishman, a devoted father and a great voice of the people. Some of the greatest oratory from Andy on the floor of the state legislature. If Andy said he was with you, you could bank on it. My father who was a livery man said there was nobody in the business that could compare with Andy during a service. He is in my prayers tonight.

Whenever Andy attended the outdoor mass in Sisters Lake, Michigan, everyone knew where to find him. He'd be sitting front row center, singing louder and praying harder than all the other parishioners. Mr. McGann was the only human being who could recite the sign of the Cross and mesmerize everyone with his dignity and devotion to Our Lord. He was a devoted husband and father, a gentle soul, a successful business man, a great politician and a generous human being. On behalf of our families, my brother and I (Rosemary Snyder and Bill Durkin,) plus our spouses, Joe Snyder and Joan Durkin, and all of our children, we would like to express our deepest sympathy to all his loved ones.

We consider ourselves very fortunate to have enjoyed many cherished years together. Rose and I could not make it back to Chicago in time for the funeral, although our thoughts and prayers are with you. Andrew was the best!

Andy and company took care of my aunt and uncle: Betty (nee Gaudry) and Joe Mazurek of St. Catherine's in Oak Lawn. The legendary kindness and compassion everyone speaks of is quite real. Bye now, Andy, and God Love You!

The entire Dooley family offers their prayers and condolences to the McGann Family. We grew up as neighbors to his brother Pat and Andy was always part of the backyard barbeques.
We are especially grateful to Andy for his help during the last months of our father's fight against cancer. He brought Joe Dooley peace and laughter and I am sure they are having a good Irish song together in heaven.

Dear Lois and Liz,
Our thoughts and love go out to you in this time of loss. As a mortician, Uncle Andy displayed tireless energy and true compassion to all those who had lost their loved ones. As a State Representative, he was an advocate for all those whose voices could not be heard. A great family man, a true friend and devout christian. Uncle Andy had unmatched integrity and never spoke an unkind word of anyone. I was very fortunate to have had him as an uncle and a mentor. As family and friends of Andrew J McGann, Sr, we most hold his attributes close to our hearts and try to incorporate them into our lives and actions. Goodbye, Uncle Andy, Thank you.

A life of service to others: to country, to family, to friends, to strangers...that is only part of Uncle Andy’s legacy. It is now up to us to carry the flame. It is amazing that it will take the hands of so many to carry the bright torch held for so long by one man.
How Great Thou Art! You will be missed.
