Anthony Lang Obituary

Anthony "Tony" Lang, 97, beloved husband of Dolores (Bettinardi) for 71 years; loving father of Donna Greenlimb, Carla Lang Pfister and Toni Lang; dear father-in-law of deceased Peter E. Greenlimb III and Matt Pfister; loving grandfather of four; great grandfather of nine; son of deceased Caroline Lang (Miller) and deceased Anton Lang.

Anthony died at his home on December 15th while holding his wife's hand and with his three daughters by his side.

Anthony was employed by Argonne National Laboratories for 42 years, where he worked as a manufacturing engineer. He began his career in high school, recruited as a work/study student for the University of Chicago and the Manhattan Project, building the first nuclear reactor.

Anthony's passion was his love of the sport of racquetball. He competed and won many tournaments including the senior title for Illinois at age 70 and 75. He served in many capacities at his church and also served in the community.

He had a deep and loving relationship with his wife and his entire family. Always when the family gathered, he looked around the table and with tears in his eyes would tell us he was the luckiest man alive to have such a wonderful family.

The service for Anthony will be held Wednesday December 27th at St James at Sag Bridge Catholic Church in Lemont, IL. Visitation is at 9:00am with mass following at 10:00am. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to St James Catholic Church.

Dad, this is our last adventure on earth but not our last adventure I am sure. You are my hero. You taught me ethics, what unconditional love is, how to work hard and save and what a great marriage is. You never went to sleep without telling mom you loved her while holding her hand. You taught me to be competitive and to be a good sport when I lost. You were always there to fix something in the house for me and you were always silly with me. We rode bikes, played ball, played volleyball off the roof. You danced with me, boy did we dance it didn´t matter if it was the waltz, the polka, a slow dance or just jumping up and down, we danced. Even at the end you were silly with me. Thank you for life´s lessons. A girl could not ask for a better father. Love you dad!!.

I played racquetball with Tony during the late 80's and early 90's. The only reason I beat him regularly was because I am 15 years younger than me. I loved the guy for being a good friend to me too. He was a creature of habit - good ones. Orderly, balanced, and respectful of others. I liked that about him too.

Because of Uncle Tony, no one can beat me in Chinese Checkers. He was the best uncle. He will be missed. He is having fun dancing the polka around heaven with his sister and parents.
