How can we ever forget his sacrifice. Let us not forget his family. I had the terrible honor of watching Kathy receive the phone call that made her a Gold Star mother. It has taken me so long to post to Christopher's legacy site. Perhaps it has taken me this long to come to terms with such a loss.

Hello,
We realize that we are very late to express our deepest condolences, but we wanted to let your family and friends know that we will be sending Care Packages to deployed troops this week and we'll be dedicating several of these to your loved one. Each package will carry the name, photo and the hometown of Christopher M. Alcozer US Army Private. We realize that this is a small tribute, but we do this with all respect and sincerity and we want you to know that it is made possible by thousands of like-minded individuals from across the American youth hockey community. We will not forget. May God Bless you and keep you safe and strong.

Sincerely,

To My Big Brother Chris,
Chris even though the last time I saw you was when I was 5, I still remember the laughs we shared, and the times that you would tickle me when I would get sad. And when mom and dad told me that you were in orchestra at my age, that only made me want to stay in it more, even though you were a viola, and I am a violin, we will still share that passion of orchestra playing.
You were always a great brother, and will always be an inspiration to being selfless for what you have done. I am now 13 and will write a hero analysis on how YOU were a hero. And starting in the opening paragraph will be 'My brother Christopher is my personal hero because he was courageous'.
And I like those words, because they are true.
Love you lots, your little sis, Vicky

There isn't a day that goes by that I don't think about Chris and the good times we had together. He was the best roommate I could have had in AK and the dude I wanted watching my back in Iraq. Nov 19, 2005 was by far the hardest day of my life, but because of his actions I'm still here today. I would love to visit him some time soon to say thanks in person, but for now, Thank you Chris for watching my back through the hard times and God bless your family!

Chris and I were in the same platoon in basic training. I was in Kuwait waiting for my flight into Iraq when I heard of Chris's death. I remember how angry I was when I heard this and today, although I only knew him for a short while, I was aware of his kindness and tender personality. Chris is simply too much of a nice guy to have become a causality of war and when I think about it, I'm still saddened to this day. Your friend who slept a couple of cots away from you, roster #135, thinking of you always. RIP brother.

December 27, 2012

Thank you for all you did for others. Whether it was sharing your love for music in orchestra or saying hi in the halls of Willowbrook or protecting the freedoms of an entire nation, you showed nothing but respect and compassion for people. When there are so many senseless killings happening, bullying is an issue, etc. in today's world, it saddens me that an upstanding individual as yourself isn't here to make the world a better place.

You are in the thoughts, prayers, and hearts of many, as are your family and loved ones. Much peace and love to all the Alcozers this holiday season and all the ones to come.

Very privileged and honored to have crossed paths with such an amazing person.

I was Alcozer's Drill Sergeant. He was part of the first batch of Soldiers I ever trained. I must admit that throughout my two years as a Drill Sgt, a lot of names ad faces have come and gone through my head. I am proud to say that Christopher Alcozer is a name and face that is one that I will always remember. Today is 9/11 and I just wanted to say that I will never forget the sacrifice of the thousands for the safety of millions. RIP Alcozer. Your name is still painted on the bay wall of your old platoon, as it has been since Dec 2005.

Still remembered. What a beautiful tribute. Although I did not know him, I wish that I did. May the Lord be with him and his family.

March 28, 2012

Me and Chris went to basic together and served together in AK. I relieved his platoon on Nov. 19 and saw firsthand what we all fight for. His passing is one that affects me more than I care to admit. I don't know how it is decided who remembers and who gets to forget, but I only hope that one day I become someone worthy enough to possess his memory.

Chris. I haven't been here in a long time, because I couldn't bring myself to do so.

It still tears me up inside; every day I think about you. It's still so surreal to me.

You better be taking care of my boys up there, and my girls as well. When I come home, I'll come and see you, my friend. I can't type anymore. The hurt comes back every once and a while.

I love you always, and one day, we'll meet again.

Hi Chris,
You are and always will be greatly missed. One of the newspapers reprinted the article written after your passing and I have it sitting on my desk. I see it everyday and am always inspired by you to be and do my best. Thank you for being such a great man, for giving one of my best friends love, and for your service and dedication to the United States of America. We miss you sooooo, so much.

Dear Christopher: Today is Veteran's Day: 11/11/11. Last Sunday your cousin Rebecca (my daughter in law) told me so many sweet things about you, mostly how kind you were and how much you loved your brothers. This week there was a memorial in the State Building, and I saw your picture, very strange coincidences. I asked myself how can I honor your memory, what would you want? I will be keeping your brothers in my prayers and I will honor your memory to my grandson (your cousin) Sean, my husband & my anniversary is November 19, I will remember you then too. I did not know you but I do know you are a Hero, you are very missed and you were very loved. God Bless your family as I am sure you are in thier thoughts today. Terri Back

Hey little cuz... I sat reading for several minutes, all the beautiful posts, and got pretty damn emotional, and then I felt compelled to write to you.. because oddly enough, I truly believe you read these posts.. I can't believe so many years have passed.. I will always cherish your big smile, warm spirit, big hugs, and gentle demeanor.. the last time we spoke I was hard on you for joining the military. In fact, I remember getting so emotional and asking you not to go.. but that was selfish, and God had a path for you... I only wish I had more time with you. I wish we did more together, I wish I could have been there for you more than I probably was as an older cousin. I was so proud that you went to NIU.. you were so excited to share all your adventures and I loved giving you pointers and tips on the campus.. (sigh) I guess I'm reminiscing and am all over the place, I just have so many great memories.. from sleepovers at your house with your brothers, to family gatherings and chats on Clifton. I need you to know that you have not been forgotten! I'm proud of you and the many lives you saved on the day you lost yours. You passed away on my 25th birthday, and my birthday has never quite been the same.. I love you kiddo. thank you for being a hero to so many.

Dear Becky, as Christopher's aunt,
I can only thank you for the wonderful gesture you have made. I often think of Christopher and the day he made his announcement that he had joined the Marines and was leaving for boot camp. I cannot begin to tell you how terrifying the news was for; my brother, me and the rest of his family and friends.
As the years have passed I believe more and more that each person has a destiny to fulfil. Christopher's was to save the lives of his comrades, and to prove, not just as an American, that bravery lives in friendship and love.
Thanks again.

Last weekend, my husband and I participated in our local "Run for the Fallen" event. We walked in honor of your son, Christopher. While we walked we prayed for him and all of those still in Iraq and Afghanistan. When we finished our walk, we rang the large bronze bell in his honor and planted a flag among the hundreds of others in the lawn for him. We will not forget him.

God Bless You Pvt. Christopher Alcozer. I was stationed with the 47th CSH in Mosul Iraq the morning of the attack that sent you to heaven. I was working the overnight shift, we had just arrived in Iraq. I remember someone from the ER came back and said we had a MASS CAL. comming in...we all though he was joking, we had just arrived in country...we though it was just a mock MASS CAL...next thing you know, you came rolling in first...someone asked where the decesed went...we had specific areas for expectant, decesed and minimal wounded. I worked in the imediate care ward, we took the least critically wounded. When they rolled you through it really hit home that we were in a war zone. I will be honest I froze... For a minute I didnt even know what to do. You are my age...a couple of weeks younger than me. I treated several other guys from your unit that day, but none of them are as memorable as you, I still have the picture in my head of you so young, I never met you, but I will never forget you. Thank You so much for all you have done.

Not that I am not interested in reading the entries but because what more can be said and shared? Your mom's entry was good to read. She is right Christopher, you have touched the lives of so many people and by touching them you have made a profound difference. Thank you for who you were and where you are now. It was difficult to cope with at first but now I feel that your destiny was to be a guardian angel for many lives. God Bless you and keep you.

Dear family of
Pvt. Christopher M. Alcozer,

We want to say thank you. We understand that no words can be adequate for your sorrow. We certainly do not want to intrude upon your privacy. As Americans we want you to know that we deeply appreciate the ultimate sacrifice your loved one has made for all of us. We also would like for you to be aware that with this letter comes our special concern and prayers for you. We are all safer because young men and women who love their country, and know the value of a free nation, are willing to put themselves in harms way, and lay down their lives to keep this nation free and safe for all of us.
Your sacrifice is also very great. We know that we can give little comfort; however, the knowledge that your loved one did not die in vain, but died in the service of our country, gives each of us a noble example of the value of life, and the responsibility of freedom. We hope this will bring pride and comfort to you.
We at Gethsemane Church believe that there is purpose to life. We send this letter with our deepest appreciation for the greatest of sacrifices, you and your loved one have given to this country. We know it is not enough, but please allow us to assure you that your loved one is not forgotten.

Very Sincerely

OH, and I have some talking to do with you...a while ago, Diane and I met up for lunch...and she informed me of your response as to why we never dated...

Its difficult to forget this date. It lingers in my mind and then I recall when I received the news. How can one desribe the emotion one feels---when the news you had feared and dreaded arrives?
You are in shock. Faces of other families flood your mind and wonder how they dealt with their tragedy....and suddenly you become a family. You share a common emotion---grief. Christopher I will always love you and I will always feel for those families who have lost their son, nephew and friend in times of conflict.

Christopher,
May God hold you in the palm of His hand. My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family.

Time has passed and lives march on. Its good to know you still touch lives Chris and give it a new meaning. Its heart warming to know that there are so many people handing the safety of their loved ones in Iraq over to you. You've become their guardian angel, their sage, the person they turn to in prayer...you're their soldier in heaven.

Rest in peace, brave soldier until that moment that the Author of divine love and mercy appears to transform death into life eternal. May the promises of His Holy Word bring peace and consolation to all who mourn Chris's passing.

There is nothing that I can say or do to take away the pain or bring you peace in your time of sorrow, but I will offer you and your family my heart felt condolences. I also offer you my prayers that in time the pain will easy and the memories of your HERO will carry you through each day and night. I want to thank your HERO, for his/her selfless act of becoming a member of the armed forces, his/her willingness to defend the United States of America, all that we hold sacred and for the sacrifice that will forever be etched in the memories of all those who knew him/her. Though tears can never bring him/her back, we hope that our tears express our gratitude for the sacrifice that he/she made and our sorrow at his/her passing. I believe for every fallen HERO there is a star shining brightly up above to remind us of the precious gift we were given.

Your mission on earth is complete and you are now a member of GOD’s Heavenly armed forces. Stand down brave warrior and take your rightful place in Heaven with all the HEROES who have passed before.

I made a special promise to LE RON A. WILSON, a dear family friend who joined the Army with three other friends, one of whom is my son (Le Ron was killed in action on 07/06/07 at the age of 18) on the day he was laid to rest as I touched his coffin, that I would never forget him nor would I forget those that gave their lives for our country before him, with him and after him and so when I came across www.legacy.com, I thought what a great way to keep my promise to Le Ron, so I will continue to leave tributes in each guest book until the day there is no longer the need to leave these tributes to a FALLEN HERO.

REST IN PEACE, HERO, YOU WILL NEVER BE FORGOTTEN!!

You know what I remember most about you?
When your dad would bring you over as a kid, and when he turned away you'd look at me through the corner of your eye, you'd tell me you were NOT going to fight Adam today. Do you remember that? The way Rick and I for our entertainment would match you against Adam.
God Chris you were such a passive kid. You never wanted to fight. I remember once you came over and you told me that you were NOT Chinese! I asked you why you would say that, and you told me because so many kids in your class keep asking you if you were. You were probably the sweetest kid I've ever met! I remember when you were nine, and you bought me a Christmas gift. It was a see through phone. You stood behind your dad, you father called me and said that Christopher got you a gift. I nodded to you, and said thank you.

Chris I'm sorry it took me so long to write to you, but you know my reputation. I might have taken long to write, but I NEVER forgot our conversations. I believe that is a great gift to give to a person. But I'll still make fun of you for playing the viola, lol.

I think of the work one does to a flower, they plant it, water it, nuture it, and one day they can admire it at full bloom. I feel we as your family missed your full bloom. We'll never get to hear about your career; We'll never get to hear about your first child, and see the pride one feels for their first child.

Chris I wish I undersood life. I wish I understood death, and I really wish I understood the afterlife. I don't understand any. I wish I could ask you if you see me, what you thought of me when you were alive. I wish I could ask you if you looked up to me. I wanted you to look up to me the way I looked up to Robert, Olga, and Gene. I have seen you in several of my dreams. I wonder if that is your way of talking to me.

Chris what I know for sure is that you were loved!

Hey Sweetheart,

So this day finally came, huh.. 7/7/2007.. *sigh.. it seems like just yesterday when we were planning about it for a year and a half.. but i'm keeping you close, chris.. eventhough we never made it to the altar, i know you'll forever be with me.

I'm moving forward, hon.. and i know you're proud of me. i got 3 internships this summer and in the fall, i'm graduating in dec. and i'm basically in corporate america now ;) haha

Also, somebody is taking care of me now, hon.. i'm happy and i know you're happy for me. i've been so blessed after the "dark phase" of my life (my grief) last year, but i'm better. of course, my trials never went away (esp. now with my family) but nonetheless, i know i've been a much stronger person and i thank God for the lessons He taught me over the years.

I still miss you, of course.. especially now.. but i'll be ok, 'coz i know you'll make sure that i will be! :)

'til we meet again,
Diane.
