I am so very sorry to hear of Dan's passing. Although Dan and I have never met in person, we have been cyber friends for almost 20 years. I loved his stories and opinions. He was always so eloquent in his email. Thank you for being my friend Dan. I will always think of you with a smile and much love.

Mr. "Crabiness" caring for him and nancy for the last 3 1/2 years. i got very close to both of them, sharing so many memories/ first time experiences with them. He had the biggest character and heart a person could have! hes was the most loving/ caring person i have ever met in my life, the kind of people we are short of in this world. he always treated me as one of his own. he use to say you have to be "crazy to work in this house" There was never a dull moment. He was so good to Bella and I, he enjoyed having her over, carving pumpkins and eating ice cream with her. no doubt my life became all about "Dan Karlin" words can't express what an amazing person he was. I am so grateful i got to be a part of his life, I wouldn't be who i am today. I am so grateful for all his lectures, and love. He is with the angels now watching all his loved ones as we go by day by day. Until we meet again. i love you.

Dan,

Words cannot describe the impact you had on my family, and how much we are in your debt for your several acts of kindness.

To begin with, Sylvia and I would have never met and become husband and wife, had you not played the role of helping her to emigrate to the United States. But beyond helping her come to this country, you welcomed her to become a part of your family. And you did the same for me, and for our sons Cameron and Daniel.

Yes, you had your shortcomings, but don't we all as humans? You accepted them, you overcame them, and you even would joke about them. We will miss your sense of humor. More importantly, we will miss the generosity you always extended to us and to others. You had a huge heart!

We will miss your perspectives on life, which included your childhood experiences, your Navy experiences, your career perspectives, your investment perspectives, and yes, even your political perspectives.

You will be missed dearly by so many of your friends and family. But the good thing is, we have so many positive memories of you to cherish. And so many learnings of life to make us better people.

I hope you are in a better place and that you will continue to watch over my family.

Rest in peace!

Love, Gary

Dear Nancy, Robert & Steven - so sorry for your loss. "Uncle Danny" was a favorite of mine.

With sympathy,

Daniel was a person who seemed tough on the outside, but he had a huge heart. He never failed to give the 'youngsters' a hard time, but he always ended every conversation with an "I love you and I'm proud of you." Even though we were not directly related, he acted as a grandfather to me and some of my favorite childhood memories were at his house. Every time I visited him, even at the end, I could not help but leave with a smile on my face because I was so happy to see him. He was someone I always looked up to, and it is hard to imagine an Earth without his presence.

RIP Grandpa Daniel, you will be deeply missed.

I Just lost the last of my three father figures. I would not be here if it wasnt for him, I would not have become the American suburban wife he wanted me to be. He was my mentor, my cheerleader, the guy who walked me down the aisle, the first one to visit the hospital when I gave birth, the guy I named my son after. That son who always saw him as grandpa and cries today alongside this family who will not only miss him dearly but owes him dearly too. Until we meet again, I hope you and my dad Julio and uncle Pocho can have heavenly coffee together, even if you cant understand their language....❤
