Sending my deepest sympathies to Jerry's family. Just finding out about his passing. I came across his address on the back of a drawing/sketch I had done many many years ago and mailed that to his last address. It was returned to sender today. He was a remarkable individual and is missed today.

Jerry Hausman was a huge influence on me. To many educators doctoral students are just a number. But not Dr. Hausman. Jerry took an interest in me and I will always remember our many talks about life, art and the love of teaching. I was lucky to have had him as a mentor. I visited him in his home in Chicago many years later. His smile and cheerfulness will stay with me the rest of my life.

I only recently learned of Jerry's passing. He was a superb teacher and scholar but what I will remember most is his gentleness. He was the kindest person I ever met.

Jerry and I worked together on several projects while we were on the staff of Urban Gateways. We both lived in Evanston and he would often pick me up and we would drive into
Chicago together. Great conversations and a wonderful friend. Christina Dougherty

My condolences to the family. I was a student at Minneapolis College of Art and Design,76-80, and remember Jerry as an exemplary art educator with a kind and generous personality. He truly believed in transformative power of art in society. I am grateful for having been his student and benefitted greatly from his friendship.

jerry was one of the rare talents -able to excel in any area he was a part of as well as those in so many he excelled as wells warm, creative, a joy to work with on almost any area. his creativity, his enthusiasm and his unique idea in many, many areas. in addition he was uniquely a supporter and endless patience and unique ideas and how to make it happen. I cannot how long he was my teacher and I know there is no-one to compare to either his talent or ability to make things work. I WORKED WITH HIM a very long time and I treasure every time. The art world and just humanity is lesser without him. He was my teacher, supporter and friend. no-one can compare unless it is his twin. I already miss him. He was a true talent, teacher, and a great person - always a treasure. it is our loss and the world's.

I love Jerry and will miss him so much. I will miss so much about him. I will certainly miss getting into very deep imaginative philosophical conversations around contemporary art, artists, and art education. Jerry and I loved entering into these kind of metacognitive dialogues around conceptual frameworks. We loved referencing thinkers, thinking about their work, and challenging one another with new thoughts and ideas. He would reference, then I would reference, he would cite and I would cite, and the dance would continue down a new thought road together over coffee in the morning. I'll miss sitting around thinking about thinking with Jerry. I miss writing with him. I'll miss being his editor and transcriber. He was an incredible human who could hang in any conversation on any topic, but mostly we loved looking at art, going to a talk, and then talking about our thoughts and feelings. I'll miss his love, his sense of humor, his critiques, and his gentle friendship. Sincerest condolences to Jerry's family.

Jerry became a friend during the last few years as we always meet for breakfast on Saturday mornings. His charm, his life experience and his grace under the blows of health issues were all extraordinary. It was a gift to have him enter our lives.

Jerry was a long-time friend & colleague who made significant contributions to the field of art education. It was a privilege to be able to count him as a close friend. While his presence will be sorely missed, his voice & his influence will influence future generations of those who enter the field of art education. I send my sincerest condolences to his family.
