Donna M. Greenland

Donna M. Greenland, age 89 of Lima, passed away Wednesday, March 25, 2026, at 11:54 p.m., at Mercy Health - St. Rita's Medical Center.

She was born September 8, 1936, in Bucyrus, OH, to Norman and Margaret (McKinley) Parsel who preceded her in death. On June 13, 1959, she married Thomas G. Greenland who preceded her in death on February 25, 2023.

Surviving are their daughters: Joyce A (Edward (dec'd)) Kemper of Lima, and Peggy M. (David) Edling of Columbus; grandchildren: Jennifer (Jacob) Mathews of Lewis Center and Max Edling of Columbus, plus two great-grandchildren, Ollie & Rosie Mathews.

She is preceded in death by a brother, Richard (Christine) Parsel.

Donna was a 1954 graduate of Lima Central High School and earned her Bachelor's Degree in Education from The Ohio State University. She was an educator in the elementary buildings of Lima City Schools for 32 years. While at O.S.U., she was involved in synchronized swimming and taught it at the Lima Y.W.C.A. She enjoyed knitting, sewing and cross stitch. After retirement, she and her husband became mentors in the reading programs at Lima City Schools. She was a faithful member of Faith Christian Church where she was also the bookkeeper for its daycare.

Her services will begin at 1:00 p.m., Tuesday, March 31, 2026, at the Shawnee Chapel of Chiles-Laman Funeral & Cremation Services, with Pastor Terri Wies-Haithcock officiating. Burial will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be 11:30 a.m., until the time of the service.
