John Raphael

John Raphael passed away May 10, 2023 in Houston, Texas. Born Ioannis Raphaeloglou in Thessaloniki, Greece March 31, 1935 and educated at Anatolia College, he immigrated to the United States in 1956. He attended a scholarship program in Missouri and classes at the Art Institute of Chicago. His career began as a waiter at the Chicago Drake Hotel ending as the Director of Catering. He later worked at the Denver Fairmont, Houston Hotel-Intercontinental, San Antonio La Mansion Del Rio, Florida Turnberry Isle and Chicago Fairmont. John loved traveling, photography and technology. He is survived by his wife Ursula, daughter Candace, son Gregory (Georgia) and beloved granddaughter Victoria. Also surviving are first wife Mary Lynne Chapman, daughters Betsy Miller and Suzanne Raphael. Private services were held in Houston.
