To Linda and Mike's family,
He was great. I worked with Mike for quite a few years and he had a way of making whomever he was taking to feel his undivided attention.
Such a sadness comes over me as I think of Lewis without him.

With thoughts and prayers,

Dear Linda and the members of the Cunningham family:

I was sorry to hear of the death of your dear husband Michael. I fondly remember him from my 17 years at Lewis University where I worked in the Library. At times such as these, words are unable to carry the full message of comfort and consolation which we want them to bear, but they are all we have. Having experienced the death of my father in 1995, I am aware of the deep emotions which accompany such a loss. Be sure of continued remembrance of him in my prayers and those of all our Brothers at La Salle University.

May the Lord continue to hold you and all your family in the hollow of his hand and may you find his comforting presence, in the silent power of prayer, in the wisdom of the Scripture, the nourishment of the Eucharist, the beauty of the liturgy, and in all his holy people gathered round you to help you.

I join my voice to the ancient hymn of the early Church:

May the angels lead him into Paradise.
May the martyrs come and welcome him on his way
And lead him into the holy city, Jerusalem.
May the choirs of angels welcome him.
And with Lazarus, who once was poor,
May he have everlasting life. Amen.

I close with the traditional prayer which we Brothers have prayed for over three hundred years: Live Jesus in our hearts. Forever.

With sympathy and promise of prayers,

Your Brother,

Tom Fitzgerald

Our sincere condolences to Michael's family. My 2 brothers; John and Brian and I grew up with the Cunninghams in Elmwood Park. I have fond memories of many good times and lots of sports with Mike,Tim and Jim(Ace).Ace and I were in the same grade.Mike was in same grade as my brother John. Times were simpler back then and we all enjoyed just being kids and friends. I remember Mike as an outstanding track star at St Patrick HS and later. The Cunninghams were a wonderful family. My mother loved "Mrs C" as they often would bake wonderful cakes and breads for the St Celestine Ladies Club. I am sorry for your loss of Michael. Know that he touched many lives and always was a great example to all he mentored and taught. Our hope is you will cherish the good times and know he is in a better place. Rest In Peace Michael.
