Mike was one of my academy instructors. Later he was my Sergeant in the Gang Crimes West unit. I went on to become a supervisor and, now retired, I am in my second career as an adjunct professor. Mike had much to do with both of those. He was a mentor, teacher and role model. He had a profound impact on the kind of supervisor and teacher I wanted to be. I aspired to do both of those as well as he did. He was a tough guy, and yet, as big a goofball as I was when he was my Sgt., he always steered me in the right direction with a firm, but kind hand. He will be missed. He led a life of making a positive difference in the lives of others.

Pop,
As a great family man, Chicago police officer, and U.S. Army veteran, I proud to say you are my father-in-law. Watching the old black-and-white movie classics along with the really bad Svengoolie horror films on Saturday will never be the same. Rest in peace.

Dear Invergo Family,
My sincere condolences on losing Mike. He was one of my criminal law instructors at the O'Brien Street academy in 1971 and then one of my supervisors at A/3VC. After being promoted in 1986, I came back to A/3 and worked with Mike as a fellow sergeant. He was a wealth of knowledge and police tactics as well as a great mentor. Mike was also quick with a quip and a funny anecdote. God bless all of you.

I first met Mike when he taught criminal law at the Police Academy on O'Brien Street. An entire career later, we worked together at the Police Academy on Jackson Blvd. We would talk about criminal law and also about music....what a nice gentleman.....I am glad I got to know you, Mike....R.I.P.
