WILLIAM BRIODY Obituary

William V. "Bill" Briody, age 83, died peacefully Aug. 7, 2012, in Surprise, AZ. He was the beloved son of George and Evelyn (Vincent) Briody. Bill is survived by his loving wife, Madlyn "Cookie" Rapp Briody, of 57 years; and his five children, Kathleen Barth (Steve), William Briody Jr. (Linda), Brian Briody (Judy), Merrily Coyne (Dan) and Patrick Briody (Patty); as well as 13 cherished grandchildren. Bill was a brother to the late George Briody Jr. (the late Alice), Pauline (Duckie) Opelka (Gregg), Lou, and Frank Briody (Ann). Bill was a 1951 graduate of the University of Notre Dame. He served his country with distinction as an officer in the U. S. Marine Corps defending our country during the Korean War. After his service, he married the love of his life, Cookie, and resided in the Chicago area. Together they raised their children, who now live in various parts of the country, but have remained very close to one another and filled with the deepest respect and gratitude for their parents. A mechanical engineer by profession, Bill served as manager of production for Campbell Soup, Hygrade Corp. and Blue Bird Industries. Upon retiring, Bill and Cookie moved to Arizona. A celebration of Bill's life will be held on Saturday, Aug. 18, from 9:30 to 11 a.m. at Most Holy Redeemer Church, 9525 S. Lawndale, Evergreen Park, IL with a Mass immediately following. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Poor Clare Sisters, 6200 E. Minooka Rd., Minooka, IL 60547, (815) 467-0032.

Not sure what to say?

August 20, 2012

Kathy, I was in Chicago with my husband & our son and daughter for a family wedding the past week and saw the information in the Tribune about your dad. I was so sorry to hear of his passing. He is now with all your family that have gone before him. I have many fond memories of times at your home in Little Flower- with your mom & dad and your brothers and sister. Please tell them all, especially your mom, that we will keep them all in our prayers and we hope the memories of your dad will help move you though this sad time. Love, Jeanine (Healy) Maloney Golden, Colorado
