Randy Quintel Obituary

RANDY QUINTEL Our brother, Randy, passed away on May 13, 2021, from his long struggle with lung cancer. To the end he had a strong sense of family, making sure to call all his sisters-in-law on May 9th from his hospital room to wish them a happy Mothers Day. He was a caring person to his family and friends, with that wry smile of his, and his interest in others. Randy was born in Oroville in July 1949 to Herman and Rosalie Quintel. He attended Oroville High where he played football, basketball and baseball. In the middle of his Junior year, the family moved to Washington state where he graduated from Mountlake Terrace High in 1967 and was a two year letterman in baseball. After graduation, Randy attended Shoreline J.C. for a short time before enlisting in the Navy in 1968 and completed submarine school. After his honorable discharge in 1971, he lived and worked in the Seattle area for about 10 years enjoying the camaraderie of his pals, playing golf and competitive softball. He returned to Oroville in the late 70's to make it his home again. He loved being back in Oroville and spending time with his friends at the Eagles, helping over many years to put on their breakfasts and special events, serving as a Director, and over the last few years meeting his friends for breakfast. Randy was our mother's primary caregiver for 6 years before he could no longer care for her physically due to his own health. To his brothers that says all there needs to be said about our brother, Randy. He is survived by his brothers, David (Rayni) Oroville CA, James (Vickey) Marysville, WA and John (Gail) Roseville, CA; nieces and nephews, Laura (Andy), Jason (Amy), Spring (C.J.), Casey and Callie; grand nieces and nephews, Cora, Joey, Lucas, Avery, Madison, Jackson, Natalie. He was predeceased by his parents, and nephew Gordon. We would like to extend our appreciation to the VA and OPEC for their dedicated care of our brother, Randy. And a special Thank You to his friends "Family" at the Eagles for hosting an upcoming celebration of life on June 19th at the Eagles Club.
