ROBERT "BOB" MICHELS

ROBERT MICHELS Robert "Bob" Michels, surrounded by his family and friends, peacefully passed away at home on November 9, 2012, after year-long battle with pancreatic cancer. Bob was born in New York City, grew up in Old Greenwich, CT and spent much of his life in the Bay Area and Chico. Bob had a passion for helping people and his 44 year career in mental health and social services was testament to his dedication. During his life, he served on many boards and commissions. As a lifelong aviation enthusiast, he was honored to serve on the Chico Airport Commission. Bob is survived by his wife, Lisa; his sons, Joshua Michels and his wife, Terri, Mickey Dematties and his wife, Dalene, Matthew Dematteis and his wife, Jaymee; his grandson, Michael, and his lifelong friend, Rosemary Gardner. Bob will be remembered for his humor, joy of life, and dedication to his family and friends. Memorial services will be held at Our Divine Savior, 566 E. Lassen Ave., Chico, at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, November 15, 2012. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Northern Valley Catholic Social Service, in care of the funeral home.
