ROBERT SCHARF Obituary

DR. ROBERT D. SCHARF

Dr. Robert D. Scharf passed away peacefully on Saturday, June 19, 2010, surrounded by his loving family.

He was born August 6, 1922 in Chicago, IL. He was a general practitioner (GP) for 9 years and an ear, nose and throat doctor for almost 20 years in Chico, CA. When he retired, he and his wife, Bobbie moved to the Bay Area. They have spent the last 17 years living in Rossmoor, Walnut Creek, CA.

Bob Scharf spent his life dedicated to his wife, family, medicine, and giving of himself to the community through such activities as YMCA, Scouting, and Chief of Medical Staff at Enloe Memorial Hospital in Chico. He treasured time with his family, enjoyed traveling extensively throughout the world, snow skiing, water skiing, hiking, and gardening. He was also an accomplished wood worker and loved creating items for friends and family.

Bob is survived by his wife of 60 years; four children: Mary, Linda, Bill, and Rob; six grandchildren, and seven great-grandchildren.

At Bob's request, there will be no service.

In lieu of flowers, you may make a donation to Hospice, in Bob's name.

Dr. Scharf delivered me in 1950. It was a difficult birth for my mother Elizabeth and I, with several complications, but we are grateful that he was able to save us both. Our prayers go out to Dr. Scharf's family.

We have so many fond memories of our time with Bobbie and Bob when we were all living in Chico. We have stayed in touch all these years. Our last visit was with Bob, Bobbie & Bill in Palm Desert. We are grateful for Bob's professional skills for our family. We will surely miss him. Please keep in touch with us, Bobbie. Bevely and Dick Cook (Monterey,Calif)
