Bernice Lund Obituary

Bernice Helen Lund of Menomonie died Thursday evening, May 22, 2003.

Bernice was born on Oct. 10, 1910, in Menomonie to Herman August and Anna Eliza Christina Corlina (Panck) Micheels. She married Einer Peter Lund, a native of Sunsvald, Sweden, on June 4, 1936.

Bernice was a resident of Menomonie all her life. She and Einer were involved in educating the youth of Menomonie. Einer was a former history teacher and football and track coach at the high school. Bernice was a graduate of Dunn County Normal. She received her Bachelor's degree in Elementary Education from the University of Wisconsin-River Falls. She taught kindergarten at Central School and River Heights School, retiring in the spring of 1976.

She was an active member of Peace Lutheran Church, teaching Sunday School and singing at weddings and funerals. Bee participated in the ladies' circles at church as well as in the Menomonie Women's Club. Her main focus has always been to take care of her family, and she lived to spend a lot of time with her three grandchildren, participating in all their school events and ball games. She was thrilled at the birth of her great-grandson a year ago.

Bernice is survived by adaughter, Lynda (Gordon) Hoffmann of Menomonie; three grandchildren, Jennifer Hoffmann of Stillwater, Minn., and James Hoffman and Andi (Jeff) Johnston, both of St. Paul, Minn.; one great-grandson, William Johnston of St. Paul, Minn.; a sister, Audrey (La Vern) Graske of Chippewa Falls; her two pet dogs, Daisy Mae and Sam, and many cousins and nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Einer; three sisters, Margaret (Walter) Herrem, Irene (Elvis) Funk and Doris (Al) Ida, and her uncle, Louis Panck.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, May 28, 2003, at Peace Lutheran Church in Menomonie with the Rev. David Whelan officiating. Burial will be in Peace Lutheran Cemetery, Township of Menomonie.

Friends are welcome on Tuesday, May 27, from 4 to 7 p.m. at Olson Funeral Home in Menomonie, and at the church one hour prior to the service on Wednesday.
