Edward Buttenhoff Obituary

GRAND RAPIDS, Minn. - Edward W. Buttenhoff, 99, of Grand Rapids passed away Friday, Jan. 5, 2018, at Grand Itasca Hospital in Grand Rapids.

He was born Feb. 17, 1918, on a farm near Chippewa Falls. After serving in the Army during World War II and graduating from DeVry Technical Institute in Chicago, Ill., he worked at Honeywell in Minneapolis, Minn., as a design engineer. After retirement he and his wife, Edith (nee Hetle) moved to Grand Rapids in 1977.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Edith; his sister, Edna Johnson of Redwing, Minn.; and brother, Gordon of Chippewa Falls. He is survived by his sister, Ione Brovold of Chippewa Falls; as well as six nieces and five nephews.

His parents were William and Alice (Hilp) Buttenhoff of Chippewa Falls. He was a member of Zion Lutheran Church of Grand Rapids, the VFW, the American Legion, the "Veterans of the Battle of the Bulge" and the Itasca County Historical Society, where he and Edie volunteered for 20 years.

Memorial service to be held Saturday, May 5, at Zion Lutheran Church, Grand Rapids, at 11 a.m. There will be no reviewal.

In lieu of flowers, memorials preferred to Zion Lutheran Church.
