Lorraine M. Trainor, age 76, of Menomonie, passed away Monday, March 22, 2010, at the Dunn County Health Care Center in Menomonie.
The former Lorraine Mary Howe was born April 8, 1933, in Menomonie, to Carl and Anna (Brehm) Howe. She was raised in Menomonie and graduated from Menomonie High School in 1951.
Lorraine married William E. Trainor on April 8, 1952, in Decorah, Iowa. They farmed for more than 30 years in the Town of Lucas.
Lorraine was a long-time member of Peace Lutheran Church in Menomonie, where she was active in the women's group, especially with quilting. She also helped in the church office with bulletins and newsletters. She was very creative and enjoyed making crafts and she had a special love for making angels. She enjoyed shopping at Goodwill, eating out at the Family Restaurant, and going on bus trips on Greg's bus. Lorraine had a really great sense of humor and loved her family. She will be sadly missed.
Lorraine is survived by her children, Rick (Carol) Trainor of Menomonie, Carla (Larry) Prochnow of Menomonie, Kimberly (David) Vlcek of Eau Claire and Joel (Doreen) Trainor of Menomonie; grandchildren, Paula (Todd) Schillinger, Ashley Trainor (fiancé Curt Sullivan), Brent (Alicia) Prochnow, Ross Prochnow (Sherry Hellendrung), Jeremy Vlcek (Nicole Holthaus), Vanessa Erickson, Levi (Anita) Vlcek, Duane Vlcek (Ashley Warner), Justin Trainor and Kara Trainor; 22 great-grandchildren and three on the way; her brothers and sisters, Annella Frank, Maurice (Eileen) Howe and Ozzie (Ivy) Howe; a sister-in-law, Marie Howe; her special friend, Ivelyn Brown; her cat, "Cosmo;" as well other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Bill; a brother, Eugene Howe; and brother-in-law, Elmer Frank.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, March 26, 2010, at Peace Lutheran Church in Menomonie, with Pastor David Whelan officiating. Burial will be in Peace Lutheran Church Cemetery in the Town of Menomonie, Dunn County. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, at Olson Funeral Home in Menomonie and at the church one hour prior to the service on Friday.
Lorraine's family would like to express their thanks to the care providers at the Dunn County Health Care Center, especially Penny, Deanna, Jodi and Vickie, and to Muriel Schultz, who provided care in so many ways to Lorraine and her family - you made this difficult journey much easier.
