Robert Javurek Obituary

Robert P. Javurek a.k.a. Bob was born Oct. 30, 1950, to John and Frances Javurek in Sioux Falls, S.D.

Bob Javurek spent his childhood along with his four brothers, John Jr., Tim, Jamie and Paul. He graduated from the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point in 1973 with a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and History, after four years of making the Dean's list every single semester. His sophomore year of college, he met the love of his life, Kristie C. Norland and they wed in 1973.

In 1976, after working as the marketing director at Sentry Insurance in Stevens Point, they moved to Portage where he became a sales agent with Sentry, and they met a number of incredible people that would be lifelong friends and mentors. In 1980, Bob and Kris moved to Eau Claire and in 1981, Bob started Area Insurance Agency, Inc. with Patti Sexter, a woman that would prove to be the dearest of friends and business partners for years to come.

In October of 1984, Kris gave birth to their first of two daughters, Ginamaria, who became one of the three loves of his life and gave him so much to be proud of through the years. Two years later, in 1986, Nikki was born, rounding out the family, along with their two dogs, a black lab named Mitzi and a shih tzu named Tiki. The birth of his two daughters marked the beginning of a new part of his life, filled with love and happiness and unexpected joys he never knew existed that he and Kris shared and enjoyed every day.

He took time throughout these years to go hunting with a lot of great friends and would spend time in the outdoors (what he called "The Church of the Wild"), which, for him, was a very spiritual and invigorating time. He taught his children about the wonders of nature, the importance of friends and family, and how to always finish what you start.

For those that knew him, Bob was a man of integrity who would always go out of his way to help those around him and was a strong believer that "can't" should never be part of your vocabulary. He stressed the importance of education and hard work to anyone that would listen, but he always practiced what he preached.

There really are no words that can be said to explain what an amazing father, husband, and person Bob was because his actions toward his family and friends said everything.

In 2008, after 27 years, he sold Area Insurance Agency, Inc. to Johnson Insurance and retired from the insurance business. In 2009, Bob went to work with a very dear friend as the President of Rex Systems, Inc. and enjoyed the new and exciting challenges that this opportunity brought. He spent his final day on this great earth walking the woods that he loved at the farm and spending time with Kris at the cabin.

Bob is survived by: his wife Kris; his daughters, Gina, who lives in Anchorage, Alaska with her fiance, Kyle Smith, and Nikki, who lives in Portland, Ore.; his black lab and hunting partner, Birch and his shih tzu, Fuji; his brothers, John Jr. (Dee Dee) in Texas, Tim (Peggy) in Illinois, Jamie (Bev) in North Carolina, and Paul in Illinois; his father John Sr. in Illinois; many nieces and nephews; and many very dear friends.

Bob is preceded in death by his mother, Frances Bernice.

Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, April 14 at Fuller Speckien Hulke Funeral Home, Eau Claire.

Funeral service will be at 11 a.m. on Thursday at Plymouth United Church of Christ, 2010 W. Moholt Drive, Eau Claire, with visitation one hour prior at church. Pastor David Huber will officiate.

In lieu flowers, Bob's family is asking that memorials be donated to two local organizations that Bob supported and encouraged throughout his life: the Eau Claire Rod and Gun Club Foundation, P.O. Box 1572, Eau Claire, WI 54701-1572, and Big Brothers, Big Sisters, 312 S. Barstow St, Eau Claire, WI 54701. We will use any undesignated memorials to start a scholarship fund in Bob's name at the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point.
