Charles R. Wright 88 of Marion formerly of Matthews, died Friday December 15, 2023 at Colonial Oaks Healthcare Center.
Charles was born January 29, 1935 at Matthews, IN to the late Byron and Pauline (Carmin) Wright, a graduate of Jefferson Township High School Class of 1952 and was a US Army Veteran. He married Wanita Evans, July 16, 1955, she preceded him in death December 29, 2016. Charles retired from Indiana Bell Telephone Company.
Charles and Wanita enjoyed traveling, playing cards in a couples group, square dancing, line dancing, mushroom hunting and just getting things done. They enjoyed summers boating and life on Irish Lake. He was a member of Temple Congregational Church, Marion, IN.
Charles is survived by daughters; Deborah Wright, Pam (Rodney) Bolen, Son; Kevin (Angela) Wright. Sisters; Carol (John) Harbottle, Carmen Taylor, brother;Ronald (Susan) Wright. Grandchildren; Riley (Amanda) Boyer, Darcy (Norman) Neddef, Gabrielle (Tyler) Smelser, Melanie Wright and Benjamin Wright. Great Grandchildren; Milah Boyer, Hadley Boyer, Norman Neddef, Evelyn Neddef, and Levi Smelser. Special friend; Barbara Rodman.
He is preceded in death by his wife, parents, brother; Byron Courtney Wright and brother-in-law; Paul Taylor.
Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the Jones-Smith Chapel of Armes-Hunt Life Celebration Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 259 N. Main St. Upland, IN
A graveside service will be at 2:00 PM Thursday December 21, 2023 at Matthews Cemetery, Matthews, IN with Pastor Jeff Jahn officiating. Military honors will be provided by members of the US Army and Greentown American Legion Post 317.

Charlie, worked with my husband for many years at the phone company. He and Juanita had a place near us at the lakes. Their son, was near our son´s age. Wonderful friends! Great guy. Will be missed by many.
