Benjamin Clark Holthusen of Dunnellon, passed away at his home on Aug. 29, 2024, at the age of 85. Ben was born on Nov. 11, 1938.
Ben worked for twenty-five years as a St. Petersburg, police officer. He loved the wild beauty of the Withlacoochee River. He was an avid shiner fisherman and caught hundreds of largemouth bass 10 lbs. and over. He also enjoyed monthly gambling trips to Biloxi Mississippi.
Ben had a big personality and a very large spirit. He will be missed by many.
Ben is preceded in death by his wife Bette, his sister Sharon, brother Ron and his eldest son Randy.
Ben is survived by his two sons Tom (Lisa) Holthusen and Dan Holthusen; his brother Bob Holthusen; two grandsons Chase (Shea Lynn) Holthusen and Matthew (Katie) Holthusen; and five great-grandchildren.
A celebration of Ben's life will be held in the upcoming months. Details and date to follow.
