Veronica Barker Obituary

Veronica M. "Bunny" Long Barker, 79, died at home in Beverly Hills, FL on May 12, 2025. Born in the Bronx, NY, she was the daughter of the late John W. and Helen Ryan Long. She was everyone's "Precious Little Bunny."

Bunny was a woman of God and honored Him in every way. This showed in all her actions as she was kind, caring, and made everyone feel comfortable. She was quick to laugh and had a smile that will stay with us. She was simply a joy to be around.

Robert L. "Bob" Barker, 80, died at home in Beverly Hills on May 22, 2025. Born in Moundsville, WV, he was the son of the late Charles E. and Carrie Maxwell Barker. He was more than a Dad and was "GrandBob" to many.

Bob proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy.

He went on to live and work in Titusville. Bob became a firefighter for the Titusville Fire Department and rose to the rank of Deputy Chief. He retired after 26 years and moved to Citrus County where he worked part-time for a medical transport company. Bob married the love of his life, Veronica, and they made Citrus County home together for 30 years providing a hub for both of their extended families. Many celebrations and special events were held under their roof – their door was always open and welcoming.

Bunny died the day after Mother's Day and Bob died just 10 days later. They are survived by their children, Jacqueline Howard, Claudine Fields, Eugene Putney and his wife, Jennifer, and Robert "Bobby" Barker and his wife, Stacy. She was "Nana" to Maddy, Cody, Sheila, Jacob, Cameron, George, Raven, Chris, Joey, Megan, Brittany, Heather, and Eugene; and a few great-grandchildren. Bunny and Bob are also survived by Bob's brother, Jim and his wife, Diane; nephew, Tom and his wife, Sue (Bunny's best friend); niece, Pam; and Bunny's brother, Eugene Long, and sister-in-law, Carol Long as well as many nieces and nephews. They will be dearly missed by beloved close friends and family.

Bunny and Bob were preceded in death by their son, Scott Barker. One of eight children, Bunny was also predeceased by her siblings, Walter, Vincent, Jacqueline, Geraldine, Dolores, and John.

Bunny and Bob will be celebrated at their Funeral Service to be held at the Charles E. Davis Funeral Home in Inverness on Friday, June 13. The family will receive visitors at 11:30 a.m. The prayer service will begin at 12:30 p.m. Final committal will be at the Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell at 2 p.m.

My Aunt Bunny-my best friend when living in New York!

There was always something special about being around you. Your lightness-always smiling, always kind. You had this gentle way of lifting the mood just by being there, and I don´t think I ever heard you say a bad word about anyone.

When my mother-your sister-was going through one of the hardest times in her life, battling cancer, you made the trip from Florida to New York with Bob, your devoted husband, along with Jackie, Sheila, and Jacob. Bob was right there by your side, helping make that visit possible so you could be with your sister when she needed you most. Your presence brought comfort, warmth, and strength at a time when it meant everything. It was just one example of the kind of love and goodness that defined you.

You were truly a special person-a blessing to us all and forever in our hearts.
