Bill was my college roommate and good friend at IUP. To his family, Joanne and the girls, I send my deepest sympathies. From my recent talks with Bill it was very clear that he was extremely proud of you girls. I will remember “Hutch” as a good man with a big heart who enjoyed living life to the fullest. He was a person who made friends easily and made the life of those around him better.

Bill was a great human who touched so many of our lives while at IUP, and continued to touch lives through his coaching and kindness. I feel proud to have known him and his spirit lives on in all of us who had the pleasure to call him a friend.

My deepest sympathies to Joanne and the girls. You have lost more than a husband and a father, but a wonderful and caring person who was a fantastic role model.

I went to IUP with Hutch in the early 80's and those years were wonderful. Bill was everywhere in those days ... on campus, off campus at events, playing rugby and other sports. He had a great understanding of the importance of community and his ubiquitous presence was a treat for all that knew him. I'll especially treasure the times we spent at the Shack and the fun we had playing stickball across the alley. He was a great, kind-hearted man and I will miss him terribly. My condolences to his family and friends and I share in your sadness.

It has been some time but not long enough to remember how Bill would love the company of friends; whether at a party, on a ski slope or on a road trip. I can honestly say that Bill had a part in how I became an adult and grew into this world. He coaxed me into asking the girl that I would eventually marry on a date, introduced me to many life long friends and gave me countless memories.

See ya Hutch... your friend Pat.

Father, I know Bill's probably already got Jesus out fishing, but could you ask him to please let Bill catch the biggest one? It makes him smile.
