Carolyn Bledsoe Obituary

Carolyn Schafer Bledsoe

Hyde Park - Carolyn Schafer Bledsoe, 74, died peacefully on March 25, 2021 at the Marjorie P. Lee Senior Living Community after a brief battle with cancer. She was the beloved wife of Michael D. Bledsoe, dear sister "Moon" to Carla (Bruce) Hogg and Susan (Dean) Carmeris, devoted mother of Matthew (Jessica) Bledsoe, the best Nana ever to Ellery, Jacob and Finn Bledsoe, and a loving aunt to many nieces and nephews.

Carolyn was born on November 21, 1946 in Princeton, New Jersey. An immensely gifted artist in a variety of different media, Carolyn received a Masters degree in Art from Butler University and went on to teach at a variety of schools. Carolyn became the Activities Director at Marjorie P. Lee in 2003, and used her incredible talents in arts and crafts, music and popular culture to brighten the day for hundreds of seniors throughout her career. No crossword puzzle was a match for her profound knowledge and intellect, no golf course was safe from her smooth, sweet swing, and her radiant smile outshone even the sunniest day at the Jersey Shore.

Carolyn was preceded in death by her loving parents Carl C. Schafer and Muriel Silcox Schafer, and her dear son Carl Richard Bledsoe. A family picnic will be held in her honor at a later date. In lieu of flowers, her family suggests that donations be made to the National Hemophilia Foundation.

Carolyn was wonderful. She was always such a joyful and friendly person. I am very sorry you have lost her -- we all have lost her -- and hope she was not in too much pain. Though many of us who were friends at PHS went our separate ways, I've thought of Carolyn often over the years hoping she and her family were doing well, and praying for their son with hemophilia. I appreciate knowing this news of her, sad though it is. My deepest condolences.

I was saddened to learn of the passing of Carolyn. I want to share a memory I have of her.
I moved to Princeton in sixth grade and was very much out of my world. The transition was hard. I remember Carolyn at that young age of 11 or 12 at Valley Road School going out of her way to be kind and to help me adjust. So many years ago. We were not friends but my sense is that the memory says something important about Carolyn's character.

My deepest sympathy to the Bledsoe and Schafer families. Carolyn was my neighbor here in Legendary Run for the past 17 years. She was such a special, lovely lady with an amazing, gorgeous smile! We shared many interesting conversations and laughs over the past years. She will be very much missed. May the love of family and friends bring you peace and comfort.

I was so sorry to hear about Carolyn. I knew her and Michael when they were patients in the doctors office I worked at (Dr.Pordy)..both 2 of the nicest patients we had. She was always so friendly and always looked so nice. Please accept my deepest condolences to Michael and the rest of the family...

My sincere condolences to the Bledsoe and Schafer families. I remember the wonderful times we had at the Easter Egg hunts at grand mom Schafer’s in Princeton Junction and the summers at the Jersey shore and so much more. She is now with family in heaven,
May she rest in peace.
