Just reading this notice much too late. My mom and dad operated the Hitching Post in Hyde Park. Gabe and his crew were frequent visitors. My family knew Gabe well from his ticket-taker days also. He was always a great person to run into. One of a kind. I'm sure he is checking tickets up at the pearly gates now!

I am so sorry for your loss. Gabe was a wonderful man. I worked with him at Hyde park post office as his skipper. My memory of him was when the fire department carried him across Observatory Ave. when there was a water main break. He made it into the enquirer and he always got a lot of laughs. I am happy to have known him.

Johnny and Bobby, my deepest condolences on your Dad's passing. Many of my relatives have told me that if someone lives 85 plus years we should "celebrate a life well lived" at the same time that we mourn our loss. Your Dad brought joy and happiness to many. His crooked smile and generous nature were always evident in how he treated others. Thanks for sharing him with all of us. (Our mutual friend, Ernie Dansbury, called from Cleveland to remind me of the many times Reds games were "free" if we found the right gate.) Take care.

I am so sorry for your great loss. May the God who "binds up the brokenhearted" and "comforts all who mourn" (Isaiah 61:1, 2) sustain your family during this challenging time. Please accept my heartfelt sympathy.MP
