Gladys Heidenreich Obituary
HEIDENREICH
Gladys Mae (Rebeck/Motz) was born on Valentines Day in 1929 and passed away peacefully on Easter Monday in 2017 following a brief illness. With these important bookends, it is no surprise that Glad's life was filled with love and faith. She loved the Lord and His Son, her family, her many friends, and her fellow man. To family and friends, Glad was renowned for sending beautifully handwritten cards or notes of congratulation, encouragement, sympathy, friendship, and especially Valentine's Day cards-it was truly a ministry for her. Everyone she touched could sense her kindness, her beauty, her grace, her love, and her quiet faith. More than anything, Glad loved being a wife, a Mom, and a Grandma. She was devoted to and is survived by her family: a daughter, Melissa Motz; a son and his loving and caring wife, Brad and Jenny Motz; a stepdaughter, Sallie (John) Vandervort; a stepson, Ned (Maureen) Heidenreich; grandchildren, Dr. Geoff Motz, Lauren (Capt. Andrew) Motz Wilson, Ryan Motz, Matthew Tarvin, Emily Tarvin, Quinn Heidenreich, Dan (Cammy) Heidenreich, and John Heidenreich; special cousins, Margaret Olson and Al Corcoran; and special friends Jayne Byrnes and Ernie Dawe. She was preceded in death by her parents, Howard and Margaret Rebeck; her first husband, W. Bruce Motz; her second husband, George E. Heidenreich, III; her sister, June Hamby; and her stepson, Jim Heidenreich. Glad was born in Lakewood, OH and lived most of her childhood in Ft. Thomas, KY. She graduated from Highlands High School and went on to the University of Cincinnati where she earned a Bachelor of Science in Education and was a member of Chi Omega sorority. She lived in Cincinnati most of her adult life. In the early 90's, Glad moved to Naples, FL but maintained a home in Cincinnati to visit family and friends in the summer time. She returned to Cincinnati full time when her second husband became ill roughly six years ago. Glad was an active volunteer in her community, where she served as a homeroom Mom at Drake Elementary and Shawnee Middle Schools. She was very involved at Pleasant Ridge Presbyterian Church where she was a Deacon, helped found the Women's Bible Study, and routinely assisted with the Holiday Bazaar and the Annual Rummage Sale. She also served as a Director of Motz Consulting Engineers, Inc. for many years. Glad was an avid supporter of Pleasant Ridge and Madeira Presbyterian Churches, Focus on the Family, Ronald McDonald House, Habitat for Humanity, the Cincinnati Art Museum, the Naples Philharmonic, and the Naples Shelter for Abused Women and Children. She was a member of the Cincinnati Country Club and Bay Colony Beach Club in Naples, FL. Glad's life will be celebrated at a Memorial Service on Saturday May 13, 2017 at 1:00PM at Armstrong Chapel United Methodist Church, 5125 Drake Rd, Cincinnati, OH 45243. The family will receive friends at the church after the service. Internment will be private at Armstrong Chapel Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that gifts be sent in Glad's memory to either the Ronald McDonald House, 350 Erkenbrecker Avenue, Cincinnati, OH 45215 or Habitat for Humanity Greater Cincinnati, 4910 Para Drive, Cincinnati, OH 45237 or Focus on the Family, 8605 Explorer Drive, Colorado Springs, CO 80920
