Anthony Kutz Obituary

Dr. Anthony W. Kutz, affectionately known as "Doc Kutz," 78, of Dallas passed away Wednesday, April 22, 2009, in the Hospice Unit of Mercy Hospital, Scranton.

Born May 28, 1930, in Glen Lyon, he was the son of the late Louis and Mary Benko Kutz. Tony graduated from Newport High School in 1947.

He was a veteran of the Korean Conflict, serving with the U.S. Army in the military police and received his Bachelor of Science in biology from Wilkes College. He furthered his studies at Temple University, graduating from Temple Dental School in 1961.

Dr. Kutz served his community as a dentist for more than 45 years and was Dallas School District's dentist for nearly 40 years.

Dr. Kutz was a member of the Luzerne County Dental Society and the White Eagle Club.

Tony was an avid outdoorsman who loved to hunt, fish and pick mushrooms.

Tony is survived by his beloved wife, the former Pauline Pelczar, with whom he would have celebrated his 52 wedding anniversary on Aug. 3, 2009; daughter and son-in-law, Mary and Scot K. Murphy, Mountain Top; and son and daughter-in-law, Dr. John Anthony and Anne Kutz, Clarks Summit; five grandchildren, Abbey and Maggie Murphy; Tony, Charlie and Lily Kutz. Tony will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

The funeral will be held Monday at 10:30 a.m. from Harold C. Snowdon Funeral Home, 140 N. Main St., Shavertown, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. in Gate of Heaven Church, Machell Avenue, Dallas. Interment will be in Mount Olivet Cemetery, Carverton. Friends may call Sunday, 5 to 8 p.m., at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to the Hospice Unit of Mercy Hospital, Jefferson Avenue, Scranton.
