Carl Michael Heck, 63, of West Wyoming, passed away Sunday, Jan. 15, 2023, in Penn Presbyterian Medical Center, Philadelphia, with his loving family by his side.
Born in Wilkes-Barre, Sept. 14, 1959, he was the son of Marion Amato Heck, West Wyoming, and the late Edward Otto Heck.
Carl was a graduate of Wyoming Area High School, Class of 1977, and received a bachelor's degree and master's degree in mechanical engineering from Penn State University. While attending Penn State, Carl was a graduate research assistant.
He spent a large portion of his successful career first as a lead engineer and then as a senior applications engineer for Martin Marietta Aircraft Controls, New York. He then was employed as an engineer for Eglin Air Force Base, Florida, utilizing his vast knowledge of expert engineering tactics in aerospace control systems.
Most recently, Carl was employed by Merut Construction in the arena of business management, responsible for reviewing contracts and submissions, and was the liaison between the company and vendors and contractors and project owners. He was also the company's cyber security manager.
In addition to his father, Edward, Carl was preceded in death by his daughter, Dr. Lindsay Ann Heck, on Dec. 20, 2022.
Surviving, in addition to his mother, are his daughter, Dr. Carly Heck and her fiancé, Dr. Matthew Snyder, Pittsburgh; brothers, Edward (Bridget) Heck, West Wyoming; Anthony (Maria) Heck, West Pittston; and Patrick (Jennifer) Heck, West Wyoming; and numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews whom he loved very much.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at noon Friday in the Parish of St. Monica, 363 W. Eighth St., West Wyoming. Interment will be in Italian Independent Cemetery, West Wyoming. The family will receive friends and relatives from 9 to 11:15 a.m. Friday at Adonizio Funeral Home LLC, 251 William St., Pittston.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105-9959.
