Dear Matthew, I am writing this letter to you in heaven. I have been thinking of all of the nice parties and holidays we spent together with you and your family. I remember when you were little and couldn't decide what kind of birthday party you wanted- friends or neighbors or family. Your mother asked you if you could only have one person at your party, who it would be. You told her"Grandma ". That made me so happy. I also remember one of my birthdays that you wanted to give me a present just from you. You gave me a little stuffed bear that I keep on my bed still. I hope you know how proud I was of your good grades at school. It was so nice to see how my little grandson was so good with nature- fishing and knowing so much about the animals and the woods. We need time to grieve and come to grips with being without you here. Please remember us in your prayers as we will remember you. Love, Grandma. Robert,Mandy and Dillon. Please know how much we love you and how we miss Matthew.

MatthewI want to thank you for all the times I stayed over and we planned to camp outside, and you never got mad at me when I asked if we could go sleep inside because I was afraid of the bears. I want to thank you for always saving me a seat next to you at dinner on every holiday, and never making me feel like I was eating too much. While I'm the only girl amongst our cousins, you gave me so much comfort, and you brought so much joy to my life that I will forever be grateful for. You will forever hold such a special place in my heart. I love you more than words can describe.

I give you this one thought to keep, I am with you still-I do not sleep. I am a thousand winds that blow, I am the diamond glints on snow, I am the sunlight on ripened grain, I am the gentle autumn rain. When you wake in the morning's hush, I am the sweet uplifting rush of quiet birds in circled flight. I am the soft stars that shine at night. Do not think of me as gone, I am with you still in each new dawn. (Native American prayer)

Robert, Mandy and Dillon, You know we share your sorrow and that we miss Matthew now and always will. We have so many memories of him yet not nearly enough. We love you and are here for you forever and always. Matthew-We will never forget you and the many ways you touched our lives. I smile remembering how you always caught the most fish, spied the hidden frogs and were the only one to get any crabs on the string on our crabbin attempt in Virginia. I remember fishing-just the two of us -at the lake when you spotted the snake before it could scare me and how you pretended you needed help getting those disgusting mealy worms on the hook just to see if I'd do it! I love you and think of you everyday. Continue to help us all as we miss you so much. Love you, Aunt Laurie and Uncle Bobby, Corey and Katie

You guys are like a second family to me. Anything and everything you need you let me know and I will be there. Don't hesitate to ask. Matt was a brother and always will be. Thank you guys for always being there for me. It still hasn't come to full realization yet. I'm going to miss him a lot. He took a piece of me when he left but he will always be in my heart
