Michael Quinn Obituary

Michael Leo Joseph Quinn, 80, of Moosic, passed away Sunday, June 19, 2016, at his home.

He was born in Brooklyn, N.Y., on Sept. 7, 1935, and was the son of the late Arthur J. Quinn and Mary R. McGlynn Quinn.

Michael was a member of Divine Mercy Parish, Scranton.

He was a graduate of St. John's High School, Pittston, and a graduate of King's College, Wilkes-Barre. After college, he enlisted in the U.S. Army and served during the Korean War.

Michael worked in the beverage sales business for most of his life. He worked for the Schlitz Brewing Co. for many years, and was the owner-operator of Mighty Beverage, South Side Scranton, for many years. He retired from Kane Trucking as a warehouse manager.

He was a member of the Avoca Jolly Boys, the Avoca Veterans of Foreign Wars, a very active member of St. Joseph's Parish, Scranton, and was involved with the Moosic Raiders, Moosic Little League and the Greenwood Missy League.

Michael was a loving husband, father grandfather, great-grandfather, brother and friend and he will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his granddaughter, Molly Travis, and his siblings, June Marie Burquist and Thomas, Martin, Arthur and C. Jerome Quinn.

Michael is survived by his wife of 57 years, the former Pat McMullen Quinn; his children, Maureen Quinn, Moosic; Michael and his wife, Maryann Quinn, Plains Township; Patrick and his wife, Terry, Avoca; Erin Folchetti, Taylor; and Coleen Travis and her husband, Stephen, Taylor; grandchildren, Sarah Nolan, John Quinn, Jason Quinn, Brian Malvizzi, Christopher Malvizzi, Caitlin Travis, Brian Folchetti and Kevin Folchetti; and great-grandchildren, Zachary and Fallon Nolan and Dominic and Lucas Folchetti. Also surviving are many nieces and nephews.

Michael's family would like to thank the nurses and staff of Hospice of the Sacred Heart, and also the doctors, nurses and staff of the Regional Hospital, Scranton, for their many years of wonderful care.

A Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 10:30 a.m. Friday in Divine Mercy Parish Church, 312 Davis St., Scranton, with the Rev. Francis Pauselli officiating.

Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Kiesinger Funeral Services Inc., 255 McAlpine St., Duryea.

Family and friends are asked to go directly to the church on Friday morning, as there will be no procession from the funeral home.

Interment will take place at 11 a.m. Saturday in St. Mary's Cemetery, Avoca. The AMVETS Honor Guard will provide military honors.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105, or to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, 26 Broadway, 14th Floor, New York, NY 10004.
