Paula H. Daley, 85, of Wayne, formerly Kingston, passed away Tuesday, Sept. 20, 2022, after a brief battle with cancer.
Born in Kingston, she was the daughter of the late George P. and Claire Lydon Heffernan. She attended Wyoming Seminary Day School and upper school before graduating high school from Eden Hall School of the Sacred Heart in Torresdale. Paula went on to earn a Bachelor of Arts degree from Rosemont College and then traveled across Europe with friends before taking a job with Newsweek in New York City.
Paula enjoyed her three years in New York but returned to Kingston to care for her mother. While teaching French at Plymouth High School, she met and married the love of her life, Daniel Daley, and settled into married life. Widowed at a young age, she then devoted her life to raising her four young children. She devoted many hours as a volunteer for the Junior League, PTA, as a den mother for Cub Scouts, a CCD teacher for St. Ignatius, and as a caregiver for aging relatives. Paula also earned a master's degree in history from Wilkes University during this time.
With the kids grown, Paula joined Lewith and Freeman real estate where she worked as a Realtor and then in marketing and advertising. She loved playing tennis and she was a voracious reader and solver of crossword puzzles.
Paula lived a selfless life with quiet strength, putting the needs of others above her own.
Preceding her in death, in addition to her parents, were her husband, attorney Daniel F. Daley; brothers, Dr. Andrew H. Heffernan and George P. Heffernan; and daughter, Ellen D. Wagner.
She is survived by her sister, Patricia Heffernan Ferenbach, Essex, Conn.; children, Claire (Nicholas) Kennedy, Berwyn; Polly (Rob) Roberts, Collegeville; and Daniel Daley, Paoli; and nine grandchildren, Peter and Sarah Wagner; Christopher, Julia, Colin, Brendan and Cecilia Kennedy; and Ellie and Ethan Roberts.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:15 a.m. Wednesday in the Church of St. Ignatius Loyola, 339 N. Maple Ave., Kingston. Monsignor David L. Tressler will officiate. Interment will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery, Hanover Twp.
