Sylvia Ann Shemanski Conduff, 85, of Ashley, passed away unexpectedly, Sunday, July 21, 2024, at her home.
Born on Dec. 7, 1938, in Wilkes-Barre, she was the daughter of the late Anthony and Victoria (Sobota Melovitz) Shemanski.
Sylvia was a graduate of Hanover Area High School, and was employed as a seamstress in the area garment factories. She also was a long time valued employee of Medical Billing Services.
She was a member of St. Leo's Church, Ashley, and the International Ladies Garment Workers Union.
Sylvia adored her grandchildren and great-grandchildren and always looked forward to spending time with them. She especially looked forward to the holidays where she could spoil them all.
She was an amazing baker and all who were close to her waited for her pumpkin rolls during the holidays. Her love of animals was immeasurable. She had many different dogs through the years. Sylvia loved spending time in her yard with her neighbors just chatting and laughing. She loved bazaars, skittleball and bowling for many years.
While living in Pisa, Italy, she formed a bowling league for the children and taught them the mechanics of bowling every Saturday. Many of the children and her daughter's friends would come to her house later to enjoy her pierogis and pancakes. She occasionally enjoyed going to the casino.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 39 years, Leroy N. Conduff, on Dec. 17, 2017; brothers, Leonard, Joseph and Robert Melovitz; and sisters, Theresa Burns and Rosemarie Politz.
Surviving are her daughter, Lisa Barr Grilli and her husband, Dr. Joseph Grilli, Jenkins Twp.; grandchildren, Dr. Christopher Grilli and his wife, Dr. Jennifer Grilli, West Chester; and Kaitlyn Grilli DiMarco and her husband, Tony, Royersford; great-grandchildren, Maxwell Grilli and Cecilia DiMarco; sisters, Delphine Bienick, Florida; and Frances Hopkins, Kingston; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A visitation and Mass of Christian Burial were held in St. Leo's Church, 33 Manhattan St., Ashley, with the Rev. Vincent Dang, pastor, officiating. Inurnment will be held in Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Annville.

Lisa, Joe and family. My heart broke over my Aunt Sylvia's passing, but I am choosing to remember the good times and what I loved about her.
Those whip cream cakes and pumpkin rolls were a dear favorite. But, the memory I will forever hear in my heart was her answering my calls and saying "yes Deborah".
Noone calls me by my formal name. But she always did. A memory I will cherish because I loved her, and loved that she always said it.
Rest in Eternal Peace Aunt Syl.

To Sylvia´s family, she was a blessing in disguise. A woman with a heart of gold. She helped me build my self confidence back after my accident. She pulled me through many episodes of PTSD and depression, in which She treated me like her son. Our carport patio chats were the best way to end the day. For the holiday Pumpkin Rolls she made, no others will even come close to hers. There´s sadness in the neighborhood pups that loved to visit her daily and get a treat.
Thank you Sylvia for being an outstanding friend. You´ll be surely missed but never forgotten. Love you my friend
