Bob, there's not a day that passes that I don't think of "daddy C" and how you and my dad both gave me info to use daily when remodeling my house, doing yardwork, or working on my car...the best one was always, "measure twice, cut once because you can't glue-on what you've removed in haste." I giggle about the days of Driver's Ed with all of these idiots driving in Topeka, and thinking, "you didn't have Daddy C as your Driver's Ed instructor"...course, there were those few times you'd fall asleep with out mesmerized driving...HOW, I'll never know. And then there were the Hardee's coffee runs, and you'd still be holding that coffee upright as you'd nap...then WAKE UP! Thankfully, the chicken brake never got used when I was in the car. Now, I wish Topeka Driver's had to take AND PASS a course on the driving laws in KS!! It's a NIGHTMARE out there, especially IN TOPEKA! People not stopping at stop signs and lights, not using their headlights 30 min before sunset and turning them off 30 min after sunrise, AND when it's raining!! And Topeka streets have now turned into a racetrack with pedestrians and bicyclists walking / rolling down the middle of the streets in the dark without any lights on...do they have a death wish? Daddy C I miss you...please, along side my dad, watch over me, and thank you for the talks we had...you were one of the few teachers who challenged me because you knew it'd help me "think differently...outside the box"...Rest in peace in Heaven with your beer, coffee and fishing pole.

I just learned of Mr. Converse's passing. Mr. Converse was one of my favorite teachers. He also was my drivers ed instructor. I will never forget him always stopping by his house to get us a pop. I loved him like a dad back then. I graduated 10 years ago and hadn't seen him since until about 2 monthes back. To my surprise he still remembered me. He called me Kris just like the old days and retold me stories, ones I had forgotten. I am so sorry we lost touch over the years. He is the reason why I am going to school to be a teacher. He was and always will be a inspiration to me.

In the great 80's I was at Shawnee Heights and Mr. Converse was a wonderful teacher and steady force. In the back halls we referred to him as Bobby J. but there was no other teacher who deserved our collective respect as this gentleman did.

It was an honor to have known you sir.

Mr. Converse, you were always a great friend, teacher (shop & driver's ed), and long-time neighbor. Everyone at work was so sad when they heard the news of your passing. Seeing you last Wednesday at the office, still in good spirits allowed me the chance to tell you how much you meant to me.

The staff of Cardiology Consultants of Topeka, Shawnee Heights, and your friends and neighbors will miss you dearly. You always treated us like we were your own 'special' kids.

May God give you wings and allow you the chance to be a Guardian Angel. Thank you for all you gave and taught me. Your family is in my thoughts and prayers. May you have a fishing pole, classic car and bass boat in tow when you enter the gates of Heaven. God bless you Daddy C...

Mr. Converse was always a good neighbor and friend. In his spare time he would always take my brothers and I fishing or to a royals baseball game. He will be greatly missed.

Mr. Converse was my H.S. football coach and shop teacher at Wheatland High School in Grainfield KS. Our class just celebrated our 35th year class reunion this August. He will always be a part of the many cherished memories of my youth.

To the family,
Mr. Converse instructed me in an automotive class at Shawnee Heights High School. He was tough as nails although still kind and I always held him in high regards. He has been in my thoughts often since those days as I'd see him out in his yard at times piddling around with his boat because my workplace is close by his residence. May he rest in peace,
