John Bronaugh Obituary

Maple Hill -- John J. "Jack" Bronaugh, 76, died Friday, November 3, 2006 at his home in Maple Hill. He was born December 3, 1929 at Silver Lake, the son of late Lester T. and Esther I. Look Bronaugh. Jack had lived in the Maple Hill community most of his life and graduated from Maple Hill High School in 1947. He served in the Army Reserves. He had worked for Meadow Gold and at the Topeka Supply Depot before going to work for the United States Postal Service where he worked for many years. He served on the Maple Hill city council for 27 years and was mayor several different terms. He was a member of St. Stanislaus Catholic Church in Rossville. He also was a member of the Postal Union. Mr. Bronaugh was preceded in death by a son, Jeffrey J. Bronaugh on March 27, 2002, and by a grandson, Dustin "Dusty" J. Bronaugh on April 18, 2001. He was united in marriage to Maxine Dieter on February 19, 1955 at Assumption Catholic Church in Topeka. She survives of the home. Other survivors include a sister, Jeaneen Bowlin, Emporia; brothers, Robert Bronaugh, Wamego, Bruce Bronaugh and Jerry Bronaugh both of Maple Hill and Patrick Bronaugh, Mustang, OK. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 A.M. Wednesday, November 8, 2006 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. Interment will be in the Maple Hill Cemetery. Mr. Bronaugh will lie in state after 3:00 P.M. Tuesday at Piper Funeral Home where the Daughters of Isabella will recite a rosary at 7:00 P.M. Memorial contributions may be made to the Maple Senior Center of to the charity of the donor's choice and sent in care of the funeral home.
