John Harrington Obituary

FRANKFORT John P. Harrington Sr., 89, Frankfort, died Thursday, Feb. 19, 2004, at Community Memorial Health Care in Marysville. He was born April 17, 1914, on a farm northeast of Blaine, the son of Phil and Ellen Cummings Harrington. He graduated from Blaine High School in 1932. He worked as a timekeeper on several WPA projects in Marshall County from 1936 to 1940. He was employed at the supply depot in Topeka in the 1940s. John was the Standard Oil agent in Frankfort for 31 years. A member of Annunciation Catholic Church and Knights of Columbus, Lillis, he was loyal to his family his religion and his Irish heritage. He was a lifelong Democrat. Surviving are his wife, Ellen Harrington, Frankfort; five sons, Harold and David Harrington, Kansas City, Phil and Charlie Harrington, Frankfort, and Dennis Harrington, Cornwall, England; four daughters, Kathleen Borck and Susan Colglazier, Larned, Peggy Harrington, Topeka, and Rita Harrington, Seattle; a brothe r, Louis Harrington, Blaine; 16 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren. Preceding him in death were three sisters, Irene, Regina and Helen; a brother, Richard; a granddaughter, Tami Borck; and a son-in-law, John Colglazier. The funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at Annunciation Catholic Church in Frankfort. Burial will be in Mount Calvary Cemetery, Frankfort. The rosary will be at 7 p.m. Sunday at the church. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. at Padden Chapel and one hour prior to the service at the church.

You husband and dad was a fine man, always greeted me with a smile and some humor. I will say a prayer for him at the grotto at Notre Dame.
