Max Pulliam Obituary

Funeral services for Max Junior Pulliam, 78, of Clarinda, Iowa, were held at 10:30 A.M., Tuesday, April 10, 2007, at the Walker Merrick Funeral Home in Clarinda, Iowa, with burial in the Clarinda Cemetery. Pastor John Clark of the Clarinda First Christian Church officiated the service. Max passed away Thursday, April 5, 2007, at Byran LGH Medical Center in Lincoln, Nebraska.

Visitation with the family was held Monday, April 9th from 6:30 to 8:00 P.M. at the Walker Merrick Funeral Home. Memorials may be directed to the Clarinda EMS. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to the Walker Merrick Funeral Home of Clarinda, Iowa.


Max Junior Pulliam was born on March 31, 1929, to Miles C. and Vera Velma (Wolf) Pulliam in rural Siam, Iowa. He was raised, along with two sisters, by a very special grandmother Hollis Wolf and uncle Carl Wolf. Max attended schools in Clarinda. On June 26, 1948, Max married Lois Davison in Clarinda, Iowa.

He worked for Donald Craig hauling gas and was employed at Lisles until his retirement. Max enjoyed watching his children and grand children participate in their sporting events. He also enjoyed playing Pitch, working in the yard and garden, and going to Ravenwood, Missouri to the Country Music shows.


Max is survived by his wife Lois of Clarinda, sons Wesley and wife Karen Pulliam of Clarinda, Leslie and wife Carol Pulliam of Kansas City, Missouri, Steve and wife Becky Pulliam of Kansas City, Kansas, daughter Angie and husband John Sebeniecher of Double Oak, Texas, son Rod Pulliam of Clarinda, sister Audrey and husband Donald Johnson of Clarinda, brother Robert and wife Bonnie White of Yuba City, California, sisters Charmaine Linquist of Clarinda, Sherri Lea Tomlin of LaVista, Nebraska, CeCelia Glane and husband Eldon Lambrecht of Loup City, Nebraska, Myrtle and husband William Johnson of Lakeland, Florida, brother Alex White of Portland, Oregon, sister-in-law Shirley White of Shenandoah, brother-in-law Raymond Thurman of Clarinda, 13 grandchildren and five great grandchildren. There are many many nieces and nephews, along with other relatives, and a host of friends who survive Max.


Max was preceded in death by his father Miles Pulliam, mother Vera White and step father Robert White, grandmother Hollis Wolf, uncles Carl and Orville Wolf, sisters Violet Lucille Pulliam, Charlene Malvern, brother-in-law David Malvern, brother Delbert White, sisters-in-law Helen Sparks, Gladys Thurman, father and mother-in-law Mr. and Mrs. Clifford Davison and one infant grandson Devon Sebeniecher.
