Brian Stanton Obituary

Brian Stanton

Jackson

Brian Charles (Beau) Stanton was born September 22, 1991, at Rush Hospital in Meridian, Mississippi to the proud parents of Morris and Celeste Stanton.

He completed his earthly journey on his own terms, on Tuesday, May 8, 2012, surrounded by family.

Brian attended Spann Elementary, Chastain Middle School and Murrah High School, (class of 2010), in the Jackson Public Schools District. He proudly served as band manager for the Murrah Mustangs, Sounds of Perfection Marching Band.Brian was a member of New Hope Baptist Church in Jackson, where he participated in Awana. He was a member of the International Taekwondo Alliance (ITA) where he achieved the rank of first (1st) degree black belt at the age of eight (8).

Brian was diagnosed with Ewings Sarcoma in April 2003, and after a courageous battle, went into remission in June of 2004. Brian enrolled at Mississippi Valley State University in the fall of 2010, as a resident student; however, within a few days, he had to change is enrollment status due to a recurrence of Ewings. Brian completed his freshman year while undergoing treatments and later transferred to Holmes Community College for his sophomore year, majoring in History. His desire was to become a History Teacher, following in a long line of educators in his family. Brian volunteered at Camp Horizon in Bethesda, Tennessee, a camp for children with cancer, where he was a Counselor-in-training. Although he was in pain, he was determined to serve his campers. He fought through the pain and participated in his last camp during the summer of 2011.

Those who will forever cherish precious memories of him are: his parents, Dr. Morris and Celeste Jones Stanton, Jackson, Mississippi; one sister, Marisa Stanton, Jackson, Mississippi; his paternal grandmother, Ernestine Stanton, Natchez, Mississippi; his god-parents, Carl and Janice Lucas, Jackson, Mississippi; his god-brother, David Lucas (Jasmine); Montgomery , Al; his life-long friends, Lawrence Fletcher, Meridian, Mississippi and Keysha Rose, Jackson, Mississippi; and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, May 12, 2012 ,11:00a.m. at Lakeover Funeral Home on Beasley Road. Visitation will be held on Friday, May 11, 2012, from 1 to 7 at Lakeover. Dr. & Mrs. Stanton,
Just learned about your son's home-going today (5/16/2012). As a parent, I know that children are precious gifts that God loans to us for special reasons and purposes. When the time comes that we must return that gift, it seems so unbearable, and we often wonder WHY? As you reflect, please take comfort in knowing that Brian has fulfilled his earthly purpose, and he has been relieved of his pain and suffering.

I pray that the precious memories of your son and God's grace and mercy will abide with you and your family today and in years to come.

My deep sympathies for your loss. A child is not to preceed their parents in death. Death is never what we want for ourseleves or love ones that is why the God of comfort has promised to do away with death, for he has promised.
